E series handle problem

I am having a new problem with my E-2000 series slot machine.  There have been a few minor ones before and thanks to everyone here, were easy to fix if you know what your are doing.  I am learning slowly and hope that someday, I will know what I am doing. 

It is a machine that set in a garage for a few years before I bought it.

This time, it is a handle problem.  We always let our grandchildren play with the machine when they come over.  It is a great baby sitter. A few days ago, they were visiting a using the machine.  After playing with it for half hour or so, the put two coins in the machine and then the handle would not pull down.

I tried the reset button and it does not even make a noise.  It usually does a reset when pressed but not now.

I also tried turning the machine off and then back on but that did not fix it either.

The error code window does not show an eror number so I assume that it is a mechanical problem rather than electrical.

Does anyone have an idea on what to do next?

This sounds like the handles plungers assembly needs to be removed and cleaned then re-greased.  That is the white or tan tube assembly on the side of the reels. There is a rubber cup inside that turns to a sticky tar and gums up the piston. You will need to clean all that sticky black tar out of the cylinder and off the piston. Then take a light grease and lube the piston and put it back together with out the rubber cup. It will work without it. One last thing, there is a small air hole in the bottom of the cylinder that needs to be clean and open. Don't use an excessive amount of grease when putting the piston and cylinder back together or you will end up with a mess inside your machine.

About a month ago, I cleaned that out after a handle problem where the handle went down but took a long time to return to its upright position.

Maybe I will remove the handle assembly and see if there is something broken or out of place there.

I guess its popssible that the handle assembly could be dry and needing to be oiled. You could remove the reel assembly and test the handle by its self to see how it operates..

Thanks for the replies. 

It is embarrasing to admit that I pulled the reels last night and could not find anything wrong with the handle assembly. 

Then, when I looked at the door again, I thought I saw the top of a quarter in the coin chute.  It was really hard to see but when I opened up the coin assembly, there they were (2).  I did not see them a few days ago, and hadnn't given that enough thought since the coins were counted.  Something stopped them from going all the way down the coin chute.
