Hello all!

I'm new to slots and this board.  I just bought 2 Bally slot machines that came as is from a casino.
All featuresseemed to work when I bought them but soon there after 1 bill accepter stopped working and the other machine had a error code for an empty hopper (I think) when I had a win but the hopper wasn't doing anything on earlier wins.
I don't even know the model number (5000, 6000?).
All i do know is that I'd like to try fixing these machines and they were made in 2003.
Where do I start learning how to fix 'em?

 NLG Welcome
iF THEY WERE MADE IN 2003 THEY SHOULD BE 6000.
Are there any codes on win paid window?
Did they ever pay out since you got them?
Do they take coin & bills?
Give all the info you can as to problem.

Thanks for the welcome.

The machine with the error code.....I only used bills and credits and probably ran through several hundred credits and spins, no coins in the hopper or inserted in the coin slot.  The machine did accept quarters and was tested when I bought it.
Is there an easy way to reset the hopper error?
Or can I just get a crapload or quarters and fill my hopper?

Welcome to NLG !!! do you have any pics so we can help you better and what error code are you getting, if you have won more than 800 credits on most machines you have to pay out by coin in most cases.

That sounds about right as I now have the same code on my other machine after winning a bunch of credits.
I was able to get the bill accepter to work after I came back to the other machine after 24 hours.
I had a code for an open belly door, I got that door closed and the switch activated.  The switch may be a bit touchy.
Well, i won a bunch of credits and the hopper activated.
So now both machines have a code 32.

I just read another Bally thread about using the reset key to clear.  How is the reset key properly used?

I was able to get the machines running by adding quarters to the hoppers and opening and closing the door.  The machine went into some kind of countdown and then the hoppers started shooting out quarters.

My next question is should I get a manual for future repair?
What else should I get?  And how long can I reasonably expect the lithium battery to last for?
Is there a way to clear all credits on a machine and is there a way to add credits without adding money?

Here's a few pics.  Couldn't post more than 2.
My next question.....
According to the seller, the machines need some sort of diverter to send the coins to the correct place.
Any idea how to do this?

Thanks,
Tom

Tom,

You can reply to the post again and post two more pictures, and do it again if you need to post more. It is ok to do multiple replies to add pictures.

you can down load a free manual at http://rudysdeals.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=38&product_id=1073  Nerd as far as the credit dump you can use the cash out button but you need to have some quarters, the count down you spoke of was the game telling you it was about to spit out quarters, when you run out of coins you will get a 32 and a bleep, open the main door and just put the coins back in the hopper till you complete your payout.  You can set the game to only payout once you get to 8999 credits  like it does now, the defult is 800 before it starts drooping out coins. There is a fix on this sight that will show you how to replace the board mounted battery with a remote battery pack using AA batteries and a diode. As far as the divider for the coins can you tell me what is below where you drop the coins in or a pic to might help to determine if you need one or its not working right. I hope this helps you some if your not sure just ask and we will help yes

Hotrod,
I did find the free download but couldn't actually figure out how to download it.
There's no link to click to start a download.
I'm at work now but will post pics later of the interior to show my problem with the coins.
I assume that they used to go somewhere else but now will be dropped directly in the hopper.

Did you check out at Rudy's? You must set up a user name and password and then use the free checkout, next it will give you a page that tells you where to go and download the manual

Thanks for the tip.  I was able to take a look at it.  There's a lot of info there to go through.

Here's a pic of the interior of the door.  Where do i need to add some sort of coin slide?

Check with http://rudysdeals.com/index.php?route=common/home or Raz410.
One of them should have it.

Printers still not working.

After replacing batteries, clearing machines, and configuring first to my settings (listed first) without success, and then to your settings (following the dashes -below), on the initial cash-out, the printer feeds out 3 blank tickets then goes to hand-pay after subsequent cash-outs.  Of note, when feeding the paper in the printer, it takes in a 2 and a half tickets then I have to press the feed button until the next ticket is properly set.

 9 = 4---------------4
56 = 0-------------8000
51 = 99999------8500
58 = 1000-------8000
73 = 0------------0
61 = 2------------2
81 = 0-----------0

It would be nice to get the printers working.  I already removed one.  It must have something to do with what I'm doing or not doing as your printers are working and they came from the same place.

I have 5 more machines to go.

Mike, If you had the screws that mount the coin diverter, I'd appreciate it.
If not, I can probably find something that will work.

My next question is about the coin comparitor.
I have a MC16 in one machine and a CC16 in the other.  The CC16 may not work/no led.
Are they interchangeable so that I may swap and see if the problem is the machine/optics or the comparitor?

Do the comparitors work on any coin that will fit in it?

As long as the wiring harnesses are the same, I would think they are interchangeable but not totally sure.  Comparitors will work with most coins however, the hopper has a plate on it specific to the coin size which would have to be replaced when switching denomination.  Also, the slot you place the coin in may not be sized to accept a larger coin, so that would have to be replaced as well.

My machines are both quarters.  As a matter of fact, they have sequential serial #'s.

I just wasn't sure if there was a big differnce between the CC16 and MC16.
