Hi everyone,

I a Bally S6000, tonight I was planning going to do a ram clear after I made a few adjustments. I removed the 2 chips from the board and after looking in the bag of goodies (chips and extra parts) I realized I didn't have a Ram clear chip for the machine. I reseated the 2 chips and aborted the idea of doing the clear until the proper chips arrive, after putting the mbu back in the machine and doing a power cycle the red reset light flashes contentiously (1 second intervals) and no data is displayed in the winner paid/credit windows.

SO....Did I F... up? Will a ram clear correct this when the proper chip arrives or is this something else? I'm surprised that lifting the chip and properly re-seating it would cause an error unless the board can "recall" that.

Will a ram clear be required? or can I get it working until the clear chip comes in?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and Happy Holidays!

UPDATE: I just checked the board again and it seems I damaged a leg on the U43 chip...
Tried carefully straightening the leg but it snapped off...Can the U43 main chip be found? I have a set of ram clear (leave in) chips coming which includes a U43, would that work to substitute the original or do I need to buy another U43 chip?

On a huge side note...Who sells original U43 (not the clear one) chips on here? If anyone has one please contact me.

Thanks and Happy Holidays!

try soldering a leg back on.  Remove a good leg from another chip and solder on chip.  I've done it many times and it works.

good luck!

OK, Sent the chip to someone and they are going to recover it for me  +1 (Karma, or whatever) +1 (Karma, or whatever) +1 (Karma, or whatever)

NOW...When the new chip arrives what should be done first? Should I simply install the U43 and power the machine up or do I need to ram clear the machine? Basically, is a ram clear needed to get the reset light to stop blinking or would simply installing a freshly burned U43 be all that's needed?

NOTHING CURRENTLY DISPLAYED IN WINNER PAID/CREDIT/CREDIT IN FIELD. And of course, powering it on without U43 can't do anything since that's the main chip  Duh! Duh! Duh!

My U28 and the game chips all appear to be seated properly, the U43 was easy to ID as being damaged since the leg was bent over and visible after it was seated...aghh!

New to the 6000 series  Help

Thanks
