Slot Losers of America / Tokie Owens

« on: January 06, 2012, 02:25:39 PM »

Is there any way to mod the S6000 optics so that any coin would register? Reason that I ask is that my friend has an S6000 and the CC16 burned out (don't know why). I jammed the rake and all the coins go to the hopper but the optics do not register them as credits. I know that on an S+ you clip Q1 to achieve that purpose so if anyone knows how to do it on the 6000 optics, please let me know, thanks.

Q2 is the IC component I remove to do that with a set of 24v S+ coin-in optics Reho!
Q1 is an optic receiver...I wouldn't take that out! lol

I suspect the R2 resistor would be the one to take out for the Bally 6000 optics?
I would await confirmation from others before attempting that though...
I never knew what the J1, J2, and J3 jumpers were for though.
I wonder if those would have anything to do with it?  Scratch Head 3

By the way, on the Bally's, they put a glass prism behind the coin-in optics.
If that prism glass is crooked, it will NOT return the beam back to the receiver optic on the circuit board.
Check and see if that prism is intact and straight.
If it's dusty too, it will cause bad-to-zero coin acceptance.

I just looked at mine, snapped a picture, and highlighted a few areas...
Apparently they've made changes between the 1992 (172A) version
and the 1994 (393) versions of the Coin-In Optic circuit boards.
They moved the Service Credit switch (SW1) as well...
Number of jumpers too!
Four of them on the older Version.

Check these photos out!

As I recall the removal of Q 2 has nothing to do with fooling the comparator.

For a fact on a S+ if you block the rake open and have working coin optics any coin will be counted as long as that coin is large enough to go past the optics on it's way to the hopper. ( This is NOT true on a S 2000 )

I don't know beans about a Bally 6000, the only two I ever had they still don't work. ( It's only been 4 or 5 years, some day I might get to them )

You are right Buzz.
I don't think he's trying to fool the coin mech though -
I think his coin mech is shot rather and wants to fool the coin-in optics.
But, if the S2000 requires both units to be working for coin acceptance,
it very possible Bally did it the same way with the Bally 6000.

The jury is still out on this one...
