Hi,

I just added coin handling to my S2000 with the help of all the posts here. Thanks to everyone who contributes. As part of the process, I am trying to change the coin denomination from .01 to .05, but the 7.1.1.2 menu remains disabled even when using the KEY00031 chip. Everything seems to work except when I put in a nickel it registers as 1 credit.

Machine specifics:
Accounting Denom. - .01
SG000363/SB100926/VS011GX1 - S2000 5 Reel - multi demon. .01, .02, .01, .05
Coin and bill in, coin and ticket out

Any ideas why the menu is not enabled?

Thanks.

You need a Clear chip to change the denomination or to enable the 7.1.1.2 option.

I was afraid of that. This is my first slot machine and I was trying not to get too aggressive in my tinkering. I will have to man up and get one.

Thanks.

As long as you have 0 credits on the machine you should be able to use a keychip to change player denoms. No clear neccessary. You can tokenize in the keychip menus to make a single token worth more than a penny or whatever the same way

if the coin denom is disabled that means that coinless is enabled

7.2.5 Coinless Mode is set to disabled. The machine works well with nickels, other then the fact dropping a nickel only credits you a penny and cashing out $1, gives you 100 nickels in the coin tray.

I did try the suggestion of enabling 7.1.7 Tokenization with 0 credits, but it did not have any impact on the coin denomination. I still could not change the 7.1.1.2 Coin Denomination menu set to .01.

Before I decided to add all the coin mechanics to the machine, I read through a lot of the posts here on the subject. It seemed like the Clear Key was only required when changing the 7.1.1.1 Accounting Denomination menu. That seems to be my only recourse now. Either that or changing the hopper from nickel to penny.

Let me try swapping an SB chip on my machine then swapping back....
I'll be back with results in 5 minutes.

Perfect!
I swapped the SB chip with a different one and nothing really happened - the game booted up perfectly!
However, when I swapped it back to the original chip, I got the "Machine Type Mismatch" error
and the machine did not know it's denomination!!!!  Cheer Leader

That's exactly what I wanted to get!!  yes

I then went into the menus and changed the machine type to "upright" and changed my accounting denomination to a penny
and changed my coin denomination to a quarters! ( I use quarters in my hopper)
I will note however that you will still need the proper Keychip to enter the settings
for a multi-denom machine or one with a Touch Cell panel.

Go ahead and swap the SB chip with some other SB chip then go back to the original.
If that doesn't work for you...then swap out complete SG pairs and SB chip to a totaly different game then swap back to the ones you want in the end!
You should get the blue VFD display to come up like the pictures I just took 5 minutes ago!
It alternatively flashes between the two messages!

You can see from the pictures I posted below that the machine doesn't know whether it's a slant sit-down model
or what denomination it should be!
All the options are enabled as I was able to change without the Keychip for a single denom game.
