When I insert a coin it goes straight through to the cash box.
The coin deflect coil to the hopper is in working order but does not get message to energize.
I noticed the hopper probe is not connected to anything and am thinking maybe the machine thinks the hopper is full and that may be why the coil isn't being energized.
Can someone please tell me where this probe is connected to?

i have the same hopper, mine is on the opposite side to yours, but the wire goes on the circuit board on hopper. it goes on the big plug on top, its the third one up. check out pics below. hope this helps you out. scootergee

First off MY qualificationson on a Aristocrat, I've never seen the door open on one.

OK lets think about how a hopper probe works, my understanding is the coins fill up the hopper to a point where the coins touch the probe completing the circuit to ground. Grounding the circuit makes the diverter coil move positions causing the coins to go to overflow.  My thinking is, if you don't have any wires around your hopper touching ground, the hopper isn't your problem. I would take a real good look at the diverter. for broken are stuck linkage.

If you had a IGT I would tell you to just unplug the wires going to the diverter and take a tie strap and tie it open so the coins go to the hopper. ( You would be surprised how many machines I've seen that a Casino Tech has used the tie strap)

Thanks for replies.
Prior to post yesterday I put a piece of cardboard between the stop bracket and the diverting bracket which works fine.
I put a meter I made that will beep if it senses 0 - 80 volts on the two wires that go to the coil, got nothing, I did the same with a digital multi meter, got nothing.
I like everything to work and if it doesn't I want to know why, hence the post.
My understanding is that the probe should be on the front of the hopper, but on mine it isn't.
I will try the suggestions and let you know the outcome.

Turns out the hopper probe wire as per pic by scootergee had been put on the round pin below on my game, may be a locating pin?
The length of wire going to the round pin looked too long for it to go there and when I removed it I saw it had a female spade terminal which wasn't right for where it was but perfect for the probe.
Connected the wire to the probe and tried it out, straight through to the cash box..................damn!
Played a couple of games and came up with a win at which point I heard the coil pull in, put in a couple of coins and into the hopper they go, yay, hope it keeps working.
Cheers
