I picked up this old 20" gameking..A beast. It has an older board in it Pre 3902. 10 game single denom. I'm trying to figure out how to option the selectable games. Default sux. I tried 17 keychip.. purple screen, put the base back in.. Nada.. Same with the 22.. Any info on this older game would be appreciated. I remember some older ones didn't need a keychip to select games but i can't remember doing it.

The early game kings actually used a key activated switch in the tray of the main board to access privileged options.

I have an old 3802 board with a key jumper as well to the board, but I don't have the key.  Is it really as simple as removing the two-wire jumper and jumping the plug?

Thanks,

Yeah, jumper didn't work for me either.  Key chip 17 worked for me.  I put 17 in ... blank blue-purple-ish screen, then put in base and I was in keychip menu.  From there I could setup denom and multiple games for each denom.  When I exited keychip menu, then games were saved.

Takes a while to setup the games too.  Each payout saves the max bet to memory.  So, for example, if you want 1 cent max bet to be 100, then all denoms that use that same payout percentage for that game will also be 100 coins.  So, you kinda have to plan ahead a little because the screen will timeout and save where ever you're at.

I'd try key 17 again for kicks.  Mine is 3802 (pre-3902) with only 21 games to choose from (I'm missing Diamond Mine, Super 8 Race and Super 8 Slots ... maybe more).

I have a 17..I'll try it.. 22 didn't work.  What software I'm using may be the difference too.

On my GK 4.x software on a 3802 board (with the keyswitch on the board), the ONLY way I was ever able to keychip it was to do a full clear and key.  If I selected just to keychip it from the keychip menu, it would ignore it after I reinstalled the game software.

As such, I don't change my settings much on it since I have to do a full clear and reconfigure everything to make any changes.

(For the record, mine is a multi-denom set, so it doesn't sound like the exact same set in question in this post, however it couldn't hurt to try a full clear and key rather than just a key.)
