Another member recently pointed this out to me, and I was able to verify it on his machine several times.

When playing a 40x Dotmation Big Bang, there will be a noticeable pause of almost half a second between pressing the spin/max bet button and the reels starting to spin every time the machine is going to go to the Big Bank game! (three pigs on the payline)

Once you see this pause and start looking for it, you will be able to know whether you're getting the bonus before the spin completes each and every time without fail.

Now, strictly speaking, I was only able to test this on one machine. If someone else has a different experience, please post.

You've all played Double Jackpot Haywire,eh? (I know, I 'm sounding a bit canadian tonight)
You know the wheels are going to "Haywire" because there's a slight "pause" right after the first payout stops.
Normally you get to hear that last little "ding" when the first payouts are done - asking you to put more coins in and the "insert coin" light comes back on....but, any experienced slot player won't let the coins slip from his/her fingers because they dread that "sliding-coins-thru-into-the-tray-for nothing-sound". no no

You sense that it's going to "haywire" when you get that little "pause"...

If a player's heartbeat was being monitored while playing this game, I'll bet ya a million bucks the monitor would be just about flat-lined when they sense that little "pause". Tongue Out

As soon as I saw the title of this thread I knew EXACTLY what I was going to find inside.  Smiley

Someone told me about this shortly after I got my machine -- mine does the same thing, and to a point it somewhat ruined the experience as you "knew" as soon as you pressed the button if you were going to get the bonus or not.

Thankfully I haven't found that quirk in any other Dotmation game, so the other themes are still fun for me.

Interesting! I always felt like I knew when the machine was going into the Big Bang Game.... I suppose subliminally I was noticing that gap/pause and not linking the two together. Wonder how many other little patterns in life we notice but don't realize and attribute it to pyscic powers! Smiley

UPDATE: Apparently I actually have Psycic powers because my machine does NOT have any delay regardless of a Pig game or not... only once in a while when it will have a delay but I read that the delay is the RAM writing the game history to the ROM... IGTs do that every 100 spins or somehting like that.

I posted about that in the other thread. propeller

Just to clarify, the two delays happen at different times in the play cycle:

The 100 game EEPROM write occurs after a game has finished playing and paying, and before returning to idle mode, i.e., the delay prevents you from inserting coins or initiating the next game.

The Big Bang game tipoff occurs just after the player initiates the spin but before the reels actually start turning.

Not sure if this has been posted but...on my Wms High Speed slot if you push the spin button while the reels are spinning they stop out of order or very fast. If you push the spin button while the game is in a police chase it does the same thing with tire squealing sounds. Just a cool feature I wanted to post in case it wasn't already done.

Scratch Head We were playing around with some of the setting on the WMS games (because I am having DBV or transport problems on my Stampede game) and wanted to see if the setting on the machines were all the same.  We ran across a feature that I didn't know about until now (or then).  It concerns the reels stopping.  I noticed there is a slow setting and a medium setting.  Depending on the setting you have it set at the reels will either stop slow (take longer to spin) or stop quicker (not as many spins before stopping).  On the slow setting we were able to know when Piggy was going into bonus but on the medium setting we have found it much more difficult to know.  We have guessed it out a couple times but not like before when it was everytime we knew it would bonus.

Just thought I would put my two-cents in.

I thought the slow and medium settings had to do with the reel spinning speed.  ie. if you have it on "medium", the physical reels spin faster (which I've also heard puts more wear and tear on them).

I've that with my s2000 super spin stars, in some way I can sense it going to deaccelerate ... something in the way the reels stops (with pauses) triggers me and I know after the 2nd stop that it's going to do the 4th reel de-accelleration.

It seems to me that the physical reels spin the same on either setting, it's just that they don't spin as long on the medium speed. Scratch Head

Agreed. Reel speed generally has to do with the length of the total spin, not the speed that the reels turn.

I changed my reels from med to slo -   I don't notice a difference in speed or how long it takes from them to stop.  What I do notice is the reel NOISE is noticeably lower on slow.  In fact on slo - with my sound volume on 4 I can't even hear the reel noise - where on med and my sound on 20 I still heard the reel moaning over the sound.

This would seem to indicate that the rotation of the reel is slower.

That's been my experience as well -- a lot quieter on the "slow" setting which is what led me to believe that the setting was indeed related to how fast the reels spin.

It appears the reels not only spin faster but stop faster. I keep mine on medium just so I can get more spins per minute......................

It's interesting that they would both spin and stop faster. Stopping faster means more revenue for the casino. Perhaps it was simpler to implement faster stops by speeding up the reels and leaving the programming algorithms to stop them unchanged.
