I have a cash wheel 5c 5l. when turned on it boots fine. cash wheel spins once and stops at home, then starts spinning again, and never stops. (yes the plug's in on the front). You can play the game until it hits a spin, then I get the 88 error. Do a full clear and all it back to same. I've tried other M/B's and all the same. I've just set up 3 others for stand alone progressive and all work fine. I'm baffled. Any thoughts from the Bally experts would be a big help.

Hi,

Is it Bally S 6000? If yes, the error code says that  Catastrophic Failure The MPU board has failed for an unknown reason(if SafeRAM Clear does not resolve error code, replace MPU board. Normally the s6000 if having problem with the battery and after replacing the battery that error code will exist.

If you have U28 and U43 RAM clear Eprom, you should do a full Ram Clear on it.

I hope it will help.

check 1) check the harness going to the reel control board in the top box.  look for shorts.
check 2) if you have another wheel machine, try the reel controll board from this one in the other. possibly bad.

The fact that the machine clears, the top box wheel would spin and stop on 50 or whatever.  This leads me to believe that the top wheel motor etc are ok.  sounds like it only occurs when the bonus spin triggers the top box board to kick in...

Thanks,
Wayne

I did replace the reel motor assy with one that I know was good so it's not that. where is the control PCB located in the top box? pic attached.
