This isn't my machine but sounds exactly like it. Is this machine supposed to make these werid sounds when putting coins in? Doesn't make any sounds for a hand won or hopper payouts.  Scratch Head

Yup.  I think IGT liked the whole "Space Invaders" video game revolution that was going on in the early 1980s and thought it would be cool to have those funky sounds when coins were inserted.  Consider yourself lucky (or unlucky since the sounds are obnoxious) that you have a sound board on your Fortune I -- the ones I've seen in person don't have the sounds.

yep that's the sounds of a Fortune I back in the day (1983) that is all you would hear at the casinos hundreds of Fortune I on the casino floor.   you would learn to tune it out after awhile. Smiley

my fortune 1 sound card does have a volume pot on the pcb board. I just turned it way down so I don't have to hear that annoying noise every time I put a coin in.

Just noticed this thread!  Tongue Out
That's my machine, and my hand too! And it still makes those goofy sounds as it should.  rotflmao
