I have an IGT topper for a Double 3X4X5X machine.  I was going to install toggle switches to turn on/off the topper seperatley from the machine but was thinking of another way to control it.  Is there a way to wire it to a regular extension cord, such as a cord with an on/off switch or wheel, and then plug it into the surge protector?  What do you guys think? Can it be done?  You guys on this forum have been highly helpful to me in the past.  If it's a crazy and farfetched idea, I'm sure you'll let me know. I'm just starting to learn about these things.

Thanks guys,

Rick

No do not use a regular extension cord
unless you want to see lots of smoke and permanent damage to your topper

Most all IGT toppers run off 13 and 25 volts usually plugs into the the power dist board in the top box.

Thanks Foster.  I was just trying to find another way to turn it off seperately.  And it truly does pay to ask questions on this forum site.

I see no reason why one could not install an external toggle switch to power/de-power a topper.
Not all toppers and their respective wiring are the same though...  no
We could be much more helpful to you if you posted pictures of the wiring/connectors leading to your topper.
That way we could offer you a safe, mind-boggling idea on what you can do!  yes

Hi all,
I need help in wiring my topper to a toggle switch. Here are a couple of picks  of my topper wiring. I'll reply again with a pick of the topper on the machine .  I'd like to hook the topper to a toggle switch so that I can turn it off separate from the slot machine.  Can someone please direct me as to which 2 wires I need to cut and wire into the toggle swith.  I have a Double Pole/Single Throw switch so that I can wire both voltage sources to the same switch without burning anything up.  I can sure use your expert assistance.
Thanks,
Rick
