Sounds like you have an S+ model and maybe the door isn't latched tight. You might check that first

Sounds like a reel tilt. Turn the reset key with game powered up and the door open. 43 is #3 reel tilt. The door latch might not have been down all the way during the last game played.

I'm not sure I understand your statement about switching the harness. Have you tried swapping reel 3 with either reel 1 or 2 to see iff the problem followed the reel or stayed with the reel position?

Yes I have tried switching reels and come up with the same result and also tried resetting the switch?

The error should reset, at least temporarily, by turning the jackpot reset keyswitch with the door open, and then firmly closing and latching the door.

I have never been able to clear a reel tilt code ( 41.42.43 ) on an S+ by any other way but with a clear chip. This error sometimes happens when you open the door while the reels are spinning in play.

You should never have to go through a clear just to wipe out a reel tilt. I've had a few back when I had a couple S+ machines and they always stopped by turning the reset key and closing the door.

need more information, and clarification of other information.

did machine ever work as it should?
do all the reels turn  or just number 3?

can you get into the test (diagnostic mode)?  by pressing the white test button

by saying 43 on display--- we are ASSUMING that this is a S+ machine.  with no bill acceptor, logic board is located on left side of machine, with bill acceptor logic board is located in rear of machine.

try these two tests:

press the white test button until you see a 10_1 in the winner paid window, advance it to 13_1,  close the door and put down the latch, the 1 should toggle back and forth, from a 1 to a 0, this tests the door optics, which acts as a reset, if this doesn't work you can't reset the tilt.

second,  press the white test buttton until you see a 4 in the coins paid window  the SP and the game number will be displayed , press the spin reels button, it should cycle all three reels and stop on the top award, each time you press the spin reels button a new combo will appear, this will test if the reels are working as they should.

this should reveal some things.

hope this helps

if the sp chip is an older one, say below sp8xx then you don't have to use the reset key to clear a reel tilt. just open and close the door. if you aren't getting a door close, the tilt won't clear either way
