I saw in a lot of the slot threads people have replaced their old bulbs with LED's and the newer Game King's on the floors of the casino have them also. I was wondering if we could do this with PE+'s? Are the voltages different? etc... I'd love to do this to mine. Clean the buttons all up, maybe some new microswitches and nice new LED's. I think it'd be awesome. Any isnight from the pros? Can it be done? propeller

Honestly I'd have to pull one and check it for markings. I'd assume it's just whatever standard bulbs were in PE+'s as they look just like any other PE+ I've seen. This is no big issue or anything, they all do work just fine but I was looking thru the slot pics and thought it'd be cool if I could "spruce" mine up and share some pics. I'll pull one and see if there's any markings on it

Rep   I'll save you some time, most ot those bulbs were #86 bulbs, 7vac operating voltage. Have had a lot of problems with these----e.g.  older units and orginal bulbs were physically smaller than the ones you buy today. the #86 bulbs have a slightly wider  base to them, and don't fit into the sockets very well.

I have yet to find a replacement that operates at this voltage.  MCM electronics has some at the higher voltages, e.g. #73 or 161 etc.  and JKLlamps.com  Have the higher voltage leds in white and other colors for .75 cents @ piece.  Haven't used them myself so I can't comment on how they operate.

Jim once again you bail me out! Smiley Luckilly there's not a real issue with them, I just saw a lot of the slots and stuff with the LED's in and thought they looked really cool so if it's not an option for the PE+ no biggie. But I think it would be neat to do if it is indeed doable. Thanks again bud K+ to you for the info! Smiley

Rep     I'm sure its doable   They make a led replacement for a # 73 bulb which is the same type bulb physcially, (T 1 3/4  ) but a different operating voltage (14volts) . I just haven't been able to find a Replacement for the # 86 bulb ( 7vac)  same style T 1 3/4 .Don't know what would happen or how brite the bulb woudf be if you tried the #73 replacement for the # 86????

Hmm, it would probably work I'd imagine it'd be pretty dim though if it's expecting 14V and only gets 7. I'm surprised there's no replacement out for these #86's. As big as LED's are now you'd think they'd have them for EVERYTHING heh Are these #86 bulbs that odd/rare? I would like to come up with something as I think the LED's would look great in the buttons but if not no biggie. Thanks again for the help and info bud, you're truly a big asset to NLG! Smiley

Jim  Happ has 1 3/4 wedge 6 vdc LEDs $1,25 each. I think a #86 is 6.3 vdc  I've played video poker machine in a Casino with bright lights and didn't like it but it did look good

Try checking with MCM they also have them.
In my opinion they didn't do the S+ denomination label any justice, but in the player buttons they may work just fine.
Now the LED version of the 194 and 555 look great.

K+ all around for the help guys! I'd prefer to stay away from Happ as their shipping is crazy and they have a minimum order amount. Could someone link me to the MCM page so I'm sure I don't screw up and get the right one? Also any tips on cleaning the buttons I'd like to do it all when I make it look pretty, some do look a little dark tho the old bulbs dont help that any lol. Thanks so much for the help again guys! That page says they're replacements for a #85, not #86.  Anyone know the difference off hand?

#85 is 28 volt   #86 is 6.3 volt   MCM,s add  says #85 but  says 6.3 volt  MCM,s shipping looks to be pretty high. but it's only money. I think owning a slot is a lot like owening a boat just a place to pour money! Poor me I have a bunch of slots and 5 boats

BV still same problem I've pulled on so many wires and plugs I think it smilles at me when I walk by it

http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/LEDTECH-19209-06-/25-3205

I will try to find the thing and test it again though, every 73 or 86 bulb I tried to replace with its LED replacement just didnt look right though.

Buzz, if the bill validator takes ones and nothing else, it sounds like you have it set on the wrong ID. For IGT the choices would be ID022 or ID023.
Have you tried changing this setting on the DBV?

If I'm mistaken, someone please chime in.

Could be. When I had my DBV 200 set on the wrong ID all it would accept was ones but intermittently. Also if it's a DBV 200 the dip switches could be set wrong, you can set it to only accept certain bills with them.

Thanks for the updated link! What exactly doesn't look right about them? Too dim or bright? I'm looking to change them so they're all nice and bright and look more like the newer machines you see on the floors now with the LED's. Plus I much prefer the almost purple glow of the white LEDs over the old bulbs, and besides it'll give me a chance to take things apart and check, inspect and clean as I go Smiley

Sounds like most of my casino experiences  Hail
Make sure you have the larger power supply for the DBV200. It is the one with vents.

Jay It's got the larger power supply and right now a 145 SS when it takes a larger bill to the can and gives no credits. the next 2 or 3 dollar bills it will do the same thing then starts giving credits again  I changed it to a .05c machine so I could at least get something out of a $1.00  And I might add it does the same thing with 200s
