I have a 2 coinTriple Bonaza S-Plus machine from 1996 that the bill validator broke on about 2 years ago, it takes tokens and it had a lot of credits and I didn't mind feeding it when they ran out.  When I say it broke it would not light up or make a sound when you turned the power on.  I figured it must be the power supply on the BV, it has a Phihong and from what I have read on this site they are prone to failure.  I got the new power supply today, an IGT one, I installed it and when I powered it up it started make all of those wonder noises that they make when they start up or take a bill.  I then tired to feed a bill in it will not even start to take it, so I checked the settings, 9 and 1 both there but when I go to the 6 in the winner paid display it is showing a 0 in the credits display and I can't change it by pressing the spin button, it just stays a 0.  I need to set that too 25 but can't seem too, am I missing something or do I need a reset chip?  Could it be that it broke something else when the power supply went out?  Also the lights on the front where you put the bills in will not light either, I have checked the blubs and they are good.

Thank you for any help you can offer on this problem.

Howdy.  You need to use a SET chip to enable the bill validator and/or set the denomination.  You cannot set it without using a SET chip -- you can only view the current setting.  The correct SET chip to use depends on the SP chip currently installed in your machine.

Once you have the chip, this FAQ explains the procedure:
