I am totally new to slots.  I traded for a World series of slots by Universal Distributing of Nevada,Inc.  It shows a model number of y92 but I believe that is only the year made.  I was told it was set up for free play, and it is.  But it is set up for playing one coin at a time which then eliminates most of the wins.  It is a quarter machine.  I see 3 wires that have been spliced together coming from the coin comparator (?) I haven't been able to trace them fully yet.  The hopper is plugged in on top of it but when I remove the hopper, I find 2 more connectors tucked away behind it.  Hopefully this makes some sense to you guys.  I don't care so much about converting it back to use coins although that would be nice.  How do I get the 3 coin play to work.  I understand it can't be diagnosed from this terrible description but any guidance on where to start would be appreciated.

I can't find anything on that name of slot or much info on UDN slots anywhere.

On the inside of the door is a coin compairer. Is there a coin installed? It must be a quarter if using quarter or a token if using tokens. Hope that helps with your trouble.

Hi Milo and  NLG Welcome

I can't find anything on that name of slot or much info on UDN slots anywhere.

You have FOUND the most info to be had in one place here at NLG! While Universals may not be the most popular brand/make of machines discussed in the forums, there is a ton of info to be found here on them, and members who are VERY knowledgable of them.  yes

Here is a link to our Universal forum where you can read and ask questions regarding your machine. Enjoy!

It does.  Shortly after posting I put a quarter in and figured out how to set it up to accept coins.  Works good as far as that goes.  Now I just need to figure out how to make the hopper pay out the coins.  It will build credits now and can use 3 coins.  When I click the cash out button the credits disappear but nothing happens.  It appears the hopper is plugged in.  I guess that's my new project today.

thank you

Ok, I just figured out how to make the hopper work.  Everything seems to be working properly now.
Thanks everyone

I'm curious, how did you get it working?
Sounds like it was in test mode.

Didn't have a coin in the comparer for one thing.  It may have been in test mode.  I kept cycling all of the button inside.  As far as the hopper, it wasn't reading the door closed.  The key that came with it is just a nub now and was afraid of locking it and the key braking.  I removed the lock for now and ran a string up to the door mechanism so I can close the door, pull the string to "lock" it and everything worked perfectly.  All I have to do is apply a bit of pressure against the door to "unlock" it.  I need to see if someone locally can make that key, sells the lock or find one online to order.  I played it for about an hour and it purred like a kitten.

Sounds good.
When the door is closed it presses the white button that is next to the yellow reset button. This tells the mpu board that the door is closed.
When the door is locked it blinds an optic that tells the mpu board it is locked.
The mpu must see the door closed and locked in order to operate properly.
What you can do is locate the door optic inside the door below the lock. It is a grey U-shape plastic piece. If you put a piece of electrical tape in the optic it will fool the mpu into thinking the door is locked. Then you can close the door without locking it and it will play.
You can find a new barrel lock on ebay. Make sure it is the right length. Not sure off hand what the length is?

I can't find the optic.  What I do have is the white button but to the left of that there is a black button.  Both of those are depressed when the door is closed.  I found that I can pull both of them into the out position to operate the machine with the door open.  So I am assuming the black switch is in place of a optic?
