My wife won a jackpot on my universal slot. Paid out 500 of the 800 coins. It looks like 300 would be paid by the attendant. Now I can't get the machine to accept coins. Is there a reset button?

Usually a key switch on the side of the machine by the pull handle. If you don't have the key run a pair of wires from the leads on the key switch to the outside of the machine and touch them together briefly with the door closed. If you're not sure then post a picture of that side of the machine and we'll confirm for you

Easiest way to clear a Universal is do a ram clear. With machine off push small button at bottom middle of mpu while powering up machine, hold for three seconds and your good to go. You can remove the hopper while doing the ram clear, easier that way.

Also, you can raise that 500 coin limit to 2500 coins. At position 1A on your mpu there is a raised sub-board with an 8-pac dip switch. Right now #1 and #2 are OFF and #3 is ON. Set #1, #2, and #3 to ON and then do a ram clear. Next time it will payout or credit up to 2500.
Don't change or mess with the other dips!
