Big times Pay

I have a Big Times Pay multi denomination .25,.50,$1and $2 with 2 credit max. When I ordered the game they put in a 98% pay chip in the machine and what I want to know is the pay back the same for all denominations? At $1 and mostly at $2 the machine seems very very tight and all but takes the fun out of playing. The game will take $5,000 from you in no time and give very little back

The percentage is set for each denomination individually, so it is 100% dependent on whoever set-up the machine.

If you asked for 98% they probably set all demons for the same payback as it would be required to set something for each on a multidenom machine. You need to keep in mind that payback percent is averaged over the life of the machine, not every $1000 played or whatever and they can run pretty cold for a while sometimes. Life of the machine is like 40,000,000 spins or some god awful huge number like that. If you do a search for an S2000 menu map here on the site you'll find a way to check current settings to see where they are at. It's not over simple for the untrained and my phone battery would go dead before I could type it all

Thanks for the info! My next question was going to be is there a way to check how mine is set so I will search the site for how to find the setting for each. I do understand that the percentage is for the life of the machine but man when you sit there for hours upon hours and see just how much you would have put in the machine at a casino is mind blowing to say the least. This gives me a completely different outlook and kind of view it as a learning adventure. I know in real casino life I would not sit there and put that much in a machine that was not paying but at home different story. Thanks again for the info.

Yeah, it is a mind-blowing experience the first time you realize how long a machine sits there without winning.

To verify your settings, with the machine on, open the door and press the White Test button located on the MPU.  Then, close the door just enough to read the front displays on the machine (don't close the door all the way).  Now, you're going to use the Cash Out, Change, Bet One, Spin and Max Bet buttons to navigate through the menus as follows:

Press Cash Out button to move down through the menus. 
Press Change button to move back up through the menus.

To select a menu, press Spin button to select (drill down) to a child menu and Max Bet to go back (drill up) to the parent menu.

To make a change, while in the menu you want to change, press the Spin button.
Then, use Change, Cash Out, and Bet One buttons to make appropriate changes.
To save your changes, press the Max Bet button.
To discard your changes, press the Spin button.

NOTE: Some changes can only be made with a key chip including choosing payout percentages, but you can verify them.

That's basic navigation so you can at least start viewing all your settings.  Once you get familiar with them, then follow this thread to verify your payout percentages.

Ok, I got into the menu area and did change some of the sounds but never found how to view the pay out settings. Also is there a way to change the hand pay amount? If by some chance I ever hit something that says hand pay how do I reset the machine? I know this is a lot of questions but I am new and have no clue. The game came with 3 keys that all have the same number on it and I think they are reset keys but I do not know how to use them.

Press the test button..

Go to 7.1 KEY CHIP CONFIG

In menu 7.1.2 it says Game selection..

The percentages are in there for each denom

The Reset key goes in the right side of the machine btw..

if you hit a handpay you just turn the reset key to get rid of it and keep on playing.      as Harvez mentioned above the reset key lock is on the right side of the machine; up high kinda behind the speaker probably.  the reset key # is 2341 and is usually stamped into the key; it's also usually brass colored and pretty small/flimsy.  make sure it's all the way in before you turn it clockwise to either clear a jackpot/handpay or to enter the attendant menu. 
also you can open the main door and press the small white colored pushbutton switch on the front of the mpu to enter the operator menu; the operator menu has more options than the attendant menu but they share some functionality.  if you haven't picked one up already you should find a psr for your particular game chips as well as a par sheet for your base chip so you have necessary information when you want to make changes to your machine.  to make changes to your game you'll also need a clear chip 224 and a keychip 31 or 45. 
to change the jackpot limit...make sure the machine has no credits and isn't in the middle of a game...open the main door and press the small white button on the front of the mpu...let the main door rest closed but don't let the latch engage...the vfd (blue) display should read "1 accounting."  use the change button to scroll to 3.0 options...press spin button...reads 3.1 machine options...press spin button...scroll to 3.1.4 limits...press spin button to enter...scroll to jackpot limit...press spin button...use bet one and change buttons to modify as you see fit...press bet max to save and back up one step always...press bet max a bunch to exit or just close the main door.    remember if you accidentally press the spin button you will revert to last saved data and don't forget that bet max backs you up one step and spin is usually enter when in the menu system.  the more you bounce around in the menu the more comfortable you'll get.  g/l!!

oh and if your game is set at 98% then you're probably already at game 1 and won't get any better if you do keychip.

psr stands for program summary report; it's basically an explaination of all your options and menu system relative to your game chip version (SGxxxxxx) and the par sheet is the pay combination info and basic math breakdown relative to your base chip version (SBxxxxxx).  to find out your versions poke around in the menu a bit more; accounting is a good place to start!!  if you really want to know the direct route lemme know and i'll post it up.  if you post up your sb and sg numbers maybe a stork will deposit the psr and par sheet into your inbox.

Have you taken the MPU out of the machine before?

Turn the machine off!!!!.

Pull the MPU out (Its on the left side of the cabinet inside the machine)

Take a few pictures of the board where the chips are. Or write down all numbers on the large group of rectangle chips on the board.

Re-install the MPU, give it a firm push to make sure its seated properly.

Did you find the %'s in the menus yet?

Harvez Forgot one thing, when you pull the board out DO NOT use your thumb,  if you do, post back how bad it hurts.

One more thing IGT miss named these machines, they should have been named No Time Pay.  I have two of them and the pay sucks on both of them and they are set up for the highest pay.

 I was able to confirm that all the pays are set at 98.2%, thanks for walking me through that! No I have not pulled the cpu all I do is open the door, take the money out and put it right back in, time and time again. I agree this should have been big NO times pay.
