I just started to tinker with my new 6000 - At first when I turned it on I got an error 72.  That is reel 2 tilt - I took the reel out cleaned the sensor and then put it back in, made sure it was screwed in tight and rebooted.  I got the same 72 error.  I then wanted to see if it was the reel itself.  I took out reel 2 and 3 and swapped them but when I rebooted I am getting an 83F0 error.  I put the reels back in their original position and still the same 83F0 error.  I did a ram clear with the U28 and U43 Chips and got a CL-C but the sam 830F error when i put the game chips back in.

What could I have fried? and is there anything I can do about it?

This error usually comes up, after a clear, if your mains are newer than your clear chips allow.

83F-0 Invalid SafeRAMâ„¢ EPROM Wrong EPROM's used for SafeRAMâ„¢ Clear.

If you have an older set of mains you can try them, or else you need new clear chips.

Good luck,
Wayne

Wayne what would cause that in the first place??  Scratch Head

I didn't do a clear to start that error.     -   I just started with this thing so I don't even know what version the mains are.

How can I determine the version of clear chips?  Or even what version I would need to clear this?

It sounds like you had BOTH error codes before using your clear chips?
Maybe someone knows exactly which clear chips you need...
The board versions should be written right on the boards themselves?

I would suggest that you don't switch reels unless you have to.  First, what position is dip 8 on dipsw1 in?  try switching it to the opposite position.  Didn't you get some S6000 mains with that expensive (Devils??) kit you bought on ebay?  Your mains are 2006 most likely.  I'm pretty sure Jim (Blueridge) has the new clear chips for mains up to and including 2006.

Keep us posted.

Thanks,
Wayne

Most Canadian Main chip stickers get ripped or torn when the casino pulls off the security tape.  Is this a Canadian machine? 2003?

Thanks,

These are all chips pulled from machines, I usually write on the bottom with pencil what they are since the labels get torn off.  I would put them in tubes but the security "goo" sticks to the inside of the tube.  (they fell out of the drawer when I dropped it on the chair.)

Thanks,
Wayne

I decided to remove the pic.

Ballys do have an appetite for batteries.

I'm not surprised that Jim has the new clears.

Here are the 8 series codes for newcomers reference in the future:

80(*2) - ROM Checksum Error The checksum of the Main program (U12, U15, U3, U4), or the Personality (U20, U18) does not match the expected checksum.

81(*2) - Battery Low SafeRAMâ„¢ battery is below 2.2 VDC.

82 - Door Open with Power OFF The machine door was opened while the main power was OFF (requires JW11 in).

83(*2) - SafeRAMâ„¢ Error SafeRAMâ„¢ failed to retain information during self-test.

83F-0 - Invalid SafeRAMâ„¢ EPROM Wrong EPROM's used for SafeRAMâ„¢ Clear.

83F-1 - Invalid Main EPROM Wrong Main EPROM's detected after SafeRAMâ„¢ Clear.

83F-2 - Invalid Personality EPROM Incompatible Personality EPROM's detected after SafeRAMâ„¢ Clear.

83F-3 - Invalid Coin Denomination Coin denomination not supported in Market Code.

84(*2) -  RAM Error Volatile RAM failed to retain information during a self-test.

85 - MPU Removed with PowerOFF  The MPU board assembly was disconnected from the backplane  while power was OFF (requires JW15 and JW21 in). (NOBODY SHOULD REQUIRE THIS FOR HOME USE)

88 - Catastrophic Failure The MPU board has failed for an unknown reason (if SafeRAM Clear does not resolve error code, replace MPU board).

89 - Cashout to Host Error Cashout to host fails with AFT enabled and cashout to Host set to Hard. Open and close door to clear error code.

*2 - Malfunction codes 80, 81, 83, and 84 are part of the machine self-test during power ON or a system reset.
Upon an error, all of the machine's lamps flash. The lamps flash one or more times per second depending
on the problem.

Thanks,
Wayne

I always mention to check the battery, seen it too many times, battery is hot when a person gets the machine, then BAM a error but not the battery, then after it sits a few days the battery code comes up, just my 2 pennies worth, I hate when a machine is called shopped and does not have a new battery, funny how they die quick when it was cold out when they were transported

Good thought,

One of the first things I do is pull the jumper, test the battery for 3.7 volts and scan the board for physical damage, bent pins touching etc, since the casinos handle them quite roughly.  next is pulling the chips and setting the jumpers.....

Thanks,

If you cleared the machine and still get a 83f0 you need different clear chips I think there are 2 different sets

That is in a previous post.  There are many versions of clear chips and the newer ones are backwards compatible.  Bottom line is you can use older mains, but it would be better to just buy the new clear chips, then they can be used for any .
