Haven't had any problem with bill validator before.  Got low battery message so installed new battery on my 3902.  Booted game and now it won't take new bills.  Had some old one dollar bills and they work fine.  Took tens and twenties out of the slot machine from previous plays and none work.

Replacing battery wouldn't have any affect on the BV.  I would suggest you clean and calibrate the BV.

I did a search but can't find info on how to calibrate.  Is there a write up somewhere for this?

Thanks.

You'll need a calibration sheet.  I think the last time I purchased one from AG&E.  After you get the calibration sheet you will need to turn dip switches 5,6,7 & 8 off.  Place BV back in machine and turn power on.  Insert the calibration paper (it will cycle in and a few times and then eject).  Remove BV and turn dip switches 5,6,7 & 8 on.

you can do a search for "calibration" and should find several post.

the mpu is NOT reading the dbv   cause of the battery change you need to   1st try opening and closing main door 1st a few times if not do a key chip setup , when you changed battery you lost your setting.  I did not see where you said it took ones   but I would still do a clear , I have never changed a battery  on a 3902 without  having to  redo setup

I've tried rekeying (22) a few times.  I couldn't find much under the key menu that pertained other than tilts and bill change.  Is there a specific menu option or do I need a different key chip?

Just to clear up a few things.
Didn't you say it will accept some bills?  If it does then the BV is set up and you don't need to change any settings.
Is BV Bezel on door light up?  If it is, it should be ready to accept bills.
Make sure that all 8 dip switches are in "ON" position

Yes it does take old one dollar bills.  All the dips are on.  The light comes on and it does pull in the bills.  It rejects new tens and twenties but processes the ones.

Yes it did take the new bills previously.  The bills I tested were in the bill collector from previous plays.

Larry  If it's one of the games I sent you a Key 22 will do everything you need for those games. Bob is correct check your limits. No need for a key chip, just press the test button on the MPU go into setup and touch limits. ( it may say Credit Options )

If you have a WBA and want to calibrate your BV I'll loan you my calibration paper. it takes about 15 seconds per BV.  On the top of your bill head you will see a couple of real small ears, pull them toward yourself and at the same time lift up on the head with your thumbs. I spit on a soft rag and smear my DNA all around cleaning the optics.

Bob That's the part I forgot, hell I went in and turned on some machines to make sure.

Larry Another part I forgot, when you press the test button touch "Set up " and then touch "Machine Options "  That will take you to Limits are sometimes called Credit Options.

The top of the bill head is hinged and the metal plate your talking about is attached to the top of it.
