Help with CDS Razzel dazzel battery

Hello...

have a quick qestion.

i have a CDS Razzel dazzel

The battery on the board showed 0v

so i replaced the battery with a new 3.6v battery and it comes up with battery low.

and the new battery showes 0v with it on the board but when you pull off the new battery off the

board it reads 3.6v.....

any one can help or any sugestions????

I dont have the birthing chips to do a complete Clear on the machine.

Is there any other way to clear it with out the chips?

I seem to remember there was something about a "one chance" gig....in which you turned the reset key FORWARD, not backward. Once you pass it once, you're done, and need the birthing chips.

turn the reset key toward the front of machine that should bring up menu press spin or bet max to go thru menu and see if initilaze in some abreveation comes up like init or intl  with the door open wide if you get initial in some form press bet one to start initializing and then follow prompts on door if you cant get to that screen you need birth chips if so look on door when you first turn on machine and it will tell you the version no  like 2.12  or 2.05 ect  my memory is just not what it was       Paul

I have turned the key like you said.

it will get through it all and come up with battery low and sit will stop right there

and it will do nothing else...

Here is the strange part of it all....

I was doing some testing with 2 AA batterys soderd together and i put them stright to the battery and went through the

int and set up and it worked just fine and i can play the game.....

But with out the 2 AA BATTERYS it will say battery low

check the battery in machine if it is 3v or lower replace it it sounds like when you add extra batteries it is giving extra power to machine if battery is abov 3v make sure the top arm that goes over battery is clean and making good contacy a new battery should read 3.6v or higher     Paul

The battery is new and it reads 3.6 out of the machine. When put in to the machine it reads 0v....

The battery is a soder on battery wtih. Post on both ends of the battery.... it is not like a watch battery.... it is like a IGT battery.....

So, maybe just stick the 2 AA batteries?!?!? something must be funky with a trace in the board or ??? If the 2 AA batteries work, go with it!!!

Take the battery off and check it if it is dead replace it you might have got a bad battery never had a battery go dead but had them go to 1.2 v      Paul

The battery is new and it reads 3.6v out of the machine.

you said you took battery off and it reads 3.6 but when you put it back on you check the battery at its post it reads 0v after you do that read battery at post on bottom of board  and see what you get

It reads 0v on the bottom also....

Yes i took it back off the board when i checked it and it read 3.6v.


Here is another stumpper..

if i leave the battery  on the board and wire 2 AA batterys to that battery
The machine will work just fine and it will read 3v on the top and bottom of the board..

Go to radio shack and buy a holder for the size of battery with two leads and get 2 small alligator clips and try a new battery and see if it goes to 3.6 if it does the battery on board is defective under load Paul

There would be no load on the battery when i test it at the board because the board has to be pulled out of the machine when you replace

it and test it..

So the board would is on my bench during testing the v on the battery.

What this sounds like, to me, is that the battery that you have put in the machine does not have enough current to handle
the load of the memory chips. I am a little surprised that the voltage would read 0 volts but not at all surprised by it working
when you add 2 AA batteries in parallel.
Batteries in parallel increase current while the voltage remains the same. What I think you have is 2 AA batteries in series so that
you get the needed 3 volts, then hook the positive side of those to the positive terminal of the original and likewise for the negative.
A standard Carbon/Zinc AA battery will deliver between 400 and 1700 MA and that lead me to my guess that the IGT type battery
that you used is insufficient to maintain voltage.

You need to look up the specs of the original battery and then find a replacement with equal or greater maH output.

One thing that I forgot to mention is that the other problem may be that the *NEW* battery may be defective. Though you can measure 3.2 volts it may
not be able to deliver that voltage under load. If you have a 51 ohm resistor (or close) hook it across the battery and check the voltage. If the voltage is
0 then you have a defective battery.
