 Help please

Just picked up a Game King ...

The power appears to come on.
The fan nor BV power up.
The lights on the MPU blink rapidly.
The monitor comes on and blinks rapidly as well in green.

I didn't leave it on long.  The seller was told a bad power supply.  Do you agree? Scratch Head

I will swap my power supply with my 17" GK if they're the same and see if that solves.  I'm also going to check the fuses.  Anything else?

Thanks!

Dave,

just some basic troubleshooting  procedure:

you can pull the board, the monitor, and fire up the machine. up in the top box , on the right hand side of machine, there should be a power distribution board, it provides and distributes all the voltages necessary to run the machine. The power supply only provides two voltages, +12vdc and +25 volts dc  for machine operation, and a +5 vdc for a netplex  run signal.

look at the wire colors on the plugs coming from that board,  red wire and a black wire with a red tracer is the +12vdc , orange wire with a black wire with a orange tracer is the + 25vdc.   the fan and the bill acceptor run off of +12vdc, so I guessing the +12vdc is your problem.

you will need a meter to verify the voltages.

Hope this helps

Jim

Jim,

Yes, thank you, this does help.  I'm still quite an idiot when it comes to slots.  I think the board you're talking about is the one in the picture below called, "GK13in-Bottom" on the right-hand side, yes?  The wires going into it are Blue and Brown.  Or should I test on the motherboard where the IO board slides into?

Thanks again for your help.

I would test on the upper backplane board, the first connector on the left side of the board. you will see all the red, orange, black/red, black/orange wires there.

Jim,

Thanks for your help.  Just wanted to follow-up and say that it was indeed the power supply.  Found one on Feebay and all is good now.
