As a continuation of this thread. http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=27051.msg208215#msg208215

I got my new SP1271 because I broke my original. I did the ram clear and setup the denominations and bill validator. Now I have a Reel tilt 42 and so I tried swapping the reel to slot 3 and I get a Reel tilt 43.
I did some searching and found this thread http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=9519.0 BUT to my luck the OP never replied with what fixed the machine.

I found someone semi local with a reel assembly they will sell for me $20 bucks but I have not gone to get it because I want to be 100% sure that is what it needs to fix it.

Like the guy who started that thread said, I may just have to see how well this machine holds up to some gun fire. But instead of his .357 I will bring out the 7.62x54R and see what the machine is made of!

Make sure the reel strip is tight a not loose at the end. Sometimes the strip  touch glass/door and cause this tilt. I've never had a bad reel on an S+.

With the high cost of ammo these days the 20 dollar reel might be cheaper Smiley

Good luck,

all the reels look alike as far as the strip goes...when it tries to spin the reels they dont ever spin but maybe 3-4 pictures, never even making a full revolution.

Try looking through reel glass when reels start to spin and see if they are rubbing.

You might also try turning off power and spinning each reel to see if they're tight or rubbing.

Try looking through reel glass when reels start to spin and see if they are rubbing.
They have over 1/4 in of clearance. They are not hitting the glass at all. With the power on each reel feels the same tension on it when moved and with power off all 3 reels feel the same when you spin them. They spin freely with a slight sound of the motor

Maybe try some contact cleaner on the connector on the reel and the harness? Like mentioned earlier, having a bad reel on an S+ is not a common problem. Corroded connections on an S+? Probably the MOST common problem on an S+. Worth a shot and only takes a minute.

My personal experience with S+ error codes 41, 42 and 43 have only been fixed by running a clear chip. I never have been able to clear these particular errors any other way. I have had several, mostly by opening the door while the reels were in play.......dumb move.

Just my opinion, Dale.

The fact that the reel tilt followed the reel position might mean he really does have a bad reel.  If you put that bad reel on position 1, do you get an error 41?

ok I picked up the reel for $20 bucks and started back over from scratch. Ran the clear chip. Then put the set chip in and set it to 9  1 and then 25 on denom. I then got the typical 61/ 61-1 then the reel all roll and stop 3 2 then 1 and then it shows 0 in the coins played and the rest of the displays are blank. the machine will not accept a bill or take a quarter. I have the quarter put in the coin acceptor like its supposed to be.

These 7.62x54Rs are about to go in the gun! I am getting frustrated by this old boat anchor lol

Ok I have no clue! what I did but it started working. BUT not perfectly. It seems like reel 2 (the one I replaced)  is the only one indicating correctly. It will pay out at weird times. Is there a way to self test this to setup where the reels are supposed to be?
(all the reels paper is lined up on the notches)

Don't get frustrated, we have all been there.  I'm not very good with these S-plus machines but there are some on here who are good with them.  When I was working on one of mine it took a couple of weeks but it got there.  Sounds like maybe BV was not enabled or some limit is set to low.  If someone has the PSR sheets for the chips that might help. (I think that is the correct terminology).  That sheet will help a lot in the setup.  Has the machine worked before since you have had it?

The reel strips are usually installed in numerical order (lowest to hightes). Check to make sure they are in the right order from left to right.

reels are in 1-3 left to right. I had it working then I took my 20 bucks out of the bill collector and closed it back up and it quit working again. I have taped the bill collector door switch down because it was not contacting well since the lock is not there to hold the door closed. But I am totally stumped on why it quit working. Its almost like how it just started working out of no where.

I am getting more frustrated than ever. I can work with codes or clearing things because its black and white....now im in this weird gray area where its just not working and showing no codes at all.  Silly Me!

I was referring to the reel strips (the "paper" strips installed in the plastic baskets).  You need to remove them and look at the number printed on each strip and make sure that they are installed in numerical order.

Put the cash can back in all the way....you just said it was working until you got your $20 out....backtrack!!! Whenever an S+ does the "opossum" mode, always check the cash can. If it was anything else, it would give an error code.

I have had it out and back in again 4-5 times since it quit working.....when inserted it cycles the BV but it wont accept anything. Idk if you saw my post about how it magically started working. Well it stopped as oddly as it started. Nothing I open/shut remove/replace gets it to do anything different. The person I bought the reel from says there is a switch on the belly door but I do not see one anywhere.

Instead of taping the Cash Can door switch down, tape the cash can door shut. Sometimes when you don't use a lock and close the main door the cash can door gets ajar. It doesn't have to move much to screw things up.

The main door has a 7 pin barrel lock but the Bill catch can doesnt have a lock on it.

Open the door with the power on and check to see if the reels spin freely or have resistance.  If they spin freely check the harnesss from the side of the power supply to the motherboard.  The connection on the motherboard is a problem area for S+ machines.  Move the plug up and down to clean contacts, if you keep your eye on the reels they will jump a little and lock up when you make a good connection.

I have already fixed the reels. The machine was working like it should then I removed my money from the bill collector and it went into possum mode. I have tried everything to get it to start accepting coins and bills again but it wont.
