Hi everyone,

My wife and I just inherited two of her grandfather's antique slot machines; a Jennings Chief $.25 and a Mills "Castle Front" $.10. Rumor had it they would not pay out if the jackpot was hit (her grandfather would apparently pay the winner in cash), and I confirmed it tonight on the Mills.

We had them apart enough to clear a couple jams and get them working again but I didn't see anything blatantly messing with the jackpot mechanism. Anyone ever run into this before? Glad to be a part of the forum and thanks in advance.

Christian

Welcome to the site!

Yes, I've seen on some of the old mechanical machines an upside-down V-shaped metal piece that would either be bolted or welded to the payout fingers that would prevent one or more of the reels from stopping on the jackpot symbol, resulting in it being impossible to actually hit the jackpot.

I've found them before on machines I purchased.

he hit the jackpot just didn't pay out  so there no bugs on reels. it just don't drop coins , could be a spring off payout finger, or parts missing on jp mech , many places paid  a set  amount ,so jp was disable
