hi guys, new to the forum and new to slot machines. i bought a bally PS 6000 square top with the "winning for dummies" title 4 reel for about the cost of a cheap date , but this date doesn't put out Sad .

has the 88n FL00 code showing.
firstly to be clear when i push the pseudo / test , i turn machine off and then press and turn on.
i get lighting, and the disclaimer and that's it. i think with the disclaimer and the reels jiggle just a bit makes me think the MPU is maybe not toast.

there is no LED lit up unless i hold the test button down

i have tried all the methods listed in the manuals as well have read most of the posts pertaining to this game.

so i have some questions and hope i can find guidance here.

1 does the battery need to be tested free from the board?? when i put my DMM set to DC on the battery, i get -38 on it, i know it's toast but -38! i think maybe leakage into a resistor somewhere possibly.

2 what are clear chips? do i need these? could someone please PM me with the most reliable vendor on here?

3 my DIPS are NOT DIPS, they are similar and the board is socket ed there bit there is no mini switches , more like a one time "punchout" has a fine piece of metal there you either keep or knock out for your setting, so DS1 switch 8 i cannot switch to a off position.

i am very excited to get this going and add to my arcade collection, ( 5 pins,9 stand up arcades) as well as the previous owner stated it was set to freeplay and once i have this running i would like it to accept coins/bills and payout coins. ( thinking interactive savings account!)

i really appreciate any info/guidance i get!

i will post pics as soon as i get this site figured out.
Chris.

You need to get the battery changed out first.  Most problems start there.  You will need the clear chips. JJslots.com has them.   Have you located and downloaded the manual yet?  If not, check rudy's steals and deals.  He should have it.  I always put switches in and remove the punch out versions.

batteries changed out and no changes, i power off, press and hold pseudo and test until my fingers hurt and power on, hold for 5 minutes and no change Sad i think i need clear chips. i want to buy a known working MPU for backup, clear chips, switches, a printer , a 4 reel conversion kit and door/mpu locks.
on the plus though after installing new battery i do have 3.6 through the entire board ( DMM to + of new battery and black to all the test loops of ground on the board.

You are pressing the correct buttons, but you need the clear chips installed.

thanks gp, im going to order from JJ's, and impatiently wait for them to arrive. if i get leave in i can not use a printer then, correct??
oh and i downloaded the manual a week before i even got the machine. it's alot similar to pinball ( the boards) just seems tougher to find stuff for them.
i put an inquiry to JJ to see if they ship to Canada and if they will ship to a PO box because i live in the country on an acreage and my physical address is 2 sentences long!

anyone have a link for a wiring schematic? tracked down a printer for it, but my harness has no molex connectors , only 3 male and 4 female spade connectors Sad i need to make an interface harness or just clip the spades off and add molex but i really don't want to do this blindly and fry other stuff in the process.

All of the schematics are in the back of the bally manual.  Check in Module 8 or 9.

here are those connectors i was referring to. the printer seller has told me it plugs direct into the backplane.

the black red and white i pictured come from the BV harness. i put tape on them because they are male spade connectors and when they hang they are right at the 120VAC transformer. i thought they might bounce or something and weld them self to a lug on the transformer. i am going to put some female connectors on there just to keep them from making contact somewhere and frying something. i dont have any of the harnesses that you have pictured at all in my machine. hopefully my printer shows in the next few days and i can start looking around and get it figured out. i have ordered new mains with printer support but looking at my board i currently have 2004's , do they support printers?
i have 9039 personality chips 88% and ordered 9041 92%. do the personality chips also have the sound/speech programming on them that would be unique to the title?
sorry for all the noob questions, i will get through this, learn alot and become old hat just like you guys.

on the plus side the wiring in this machine is nice! nothing like the messes i have gone through in old arcade machines! no black tape, mis matched wires, no but connectors, casino's have the $$$ to have a tech come in, diagnose and just put new parts in.

You will need this harness,it doesn't usually come with the printer.
I believe that you need 2003 Mains for printer support.
I do not know the answers to your other questions

here is a pic of the printer he sent me, looks like its there, i hope so! LOL

is J18 the only backplane connection? that doesn't seem like "enough" wiring for logic communication between the BV, printer and the MPU.

i got it sorted out, i had to push and release the test button 11x to get to 11d. then i could access the options menus. the manual is kinda vague it makes out like you should push and hold untill 11d comes up but all that does for me was cycle through the 0-xx-d menu (xx being numbers)

if anyone is following , today i went at the MEI-MARS ZT-1204 BV that is in my machine. when i would try to feed it it struggled to pull the bill in. got it 1/2 in then spit it out. it spit it out quick and i screwed aroung with the toggle and the dip switch for test mode and nada!. pulled it out and completely ripped it apart giving everything a good soak and clean as i reassembled it. i adjusted the quick connector on the main harness for better contact. put it in, and same result Sad
went through the suzo manual again and this time set it to "test" with the #1 switch on the dip switch bank on the lower left face of the unit.( there is a cover with 4 screws i had to remove to access it. ) held the toggle in test (up) and power cycled the machine and..... same result. put toggle back to normal use, left test dip switch alone , cycled power , closed the door and magically the green arrows have appeared! . so next i put a $1.00 US and ate that sucker right up! no credits Sad tried a $5 and a $10 ( all paper not the new plastic) spit them out like raw oysters! and tried a $20. well it loves $20's! and loves them so much it ever credits up with them! tried another $20 and same result. im going to go play with the 8 bank dip and see what results i get for the $5 and $10 bills.

I had a MEI-MARS ZT-1204 BV on one of my 6000's and it would only take $1's and colored $50's.
It was a lot quieter than the WBA13's on my other machines.I had it apart, cleaned, messed with the settings
but it had a mind of it's own.I learned to live with it and only fed it colored $50's. Crazy
How's the Printer ?
