Is there a mame rom with King or better "joker poker type machine" double up and auto hold?

Thank you.

is it listed on the roms list in mame?  If it is not, then there's no driver support for it.

The only solo Joker Poker set in MAME pays aces or better. Can't remember offhand if it supports autohold or double up

I had always thought that the auto-hold and the double up were options during the game's setup.  Jay can probably chime in here as he has a more thorough working knowledge of the PE+

I've only got one poker game and a blackjack so I can't speak for all games (can anyone?).

I can say the double up option is selectable in both the poker and the blackjack. Regarding auto hold, this is not available on my poker set. So I would say it isn't available on all, but if it is it would be selectable in the test menus.

In PE+ Rom PEPP0065 I have Joker poker Aces or better Double up in the menu but no autohold.

In PE+ Rom XMP00024 "Multi poker" We have the same as in PEPP0065 plus the paytable.

But still no king or better.
And it's the shame we can not change the paytable.

Thank anyway.

Yeah, the autohold and double up options are dependant on the chip set. If available you can set them through the menu. It's probably programmed to the EPROM itself and coded out so the option won't show. stolistic would know this for sure

That hurts!  bawling bawling bawling bawling

My only suggestion is that once you've downloaded as much as you can from the MAME sites to your new drive, post requests for any MAME games that you couldn't replace and see if anyone on the site has them.

I'm in the slow re-building process.  One of the things that has changed since the last time I had a backup is the chd version.  I'm having to update all chd's to current version.  I wound up making a batch file to process them all on my workstation.  It's been at it for well over 24 hours.  Then I need to start getting ROM files, which is going to take forever.  I'm short something like 720 sets.

I did get all the PE+ stuff working.  It was a PITA to find the 512 byte versions of the caproms, as the original releases of which I had a backup only had the 256 byte ones.

You're right on -- that's what Stolistic told me.  If I remember correctly, it's just one bit somewhere in the code that enables or disables the 'autohold' option appearing on the setup screens.

As far as KBJW, does anyone have that chipset for their PE+ machine

Thanks for the confirmation knagl, I thought I remembered hearing that (same with other options, such as paytable, etc) being hard set in the chip. I do have KBJW chips but they're in the multi-set, my only old stand alone JW chips set is aces or better like in MAME

It seems that Bally's video poker have the king or better joker poker games, but I can see no roms for MAME.

Is it because bally's video poker are more recent and are not allowed to be emulated?

There are a couple of things to take into consideration:

1.  Thee mamedevs do not typically emulate games that are still being sold by the manufacturer, so as not to cut off any of their income stream.
2.  There are bally platforms that are already discontinued by bally and it's no longer supported; however, there has been no mamedev development on it.
3.  Mame developers are not doing this for cash, and if the person writes a driver to emulate a specific platform and if the mamedev team approve the drivers, they would be included in the mame development tree.
4.  Until recently, gambling type games were not allowed on Mame as a rule of exclusion.  This rule has since been lifted.
5.  The PE+ has only been recently emulated thanks to the contribution of Jim Stolis.  If it wasn't for his interest in emulating the PE+ platform, mame wouldn't have it today.

So if you want the Bally sets:

1.  You could do it yourself, and submit the driver to the mamedevs and hope to have it approved.
2.  Make your own (non-mame) emulator.
3.  Wait for another talented developer with spare time on his hands, who is also interested in emulating the platform.

It is important to note that it may NEVER get emulated.  MAME is not a project that strives to emulate everything, but rather it comes about as a collection of submissions made by a LOT of people who have particular interests in emulating certain games.

RICKHUNTER...

So, has MAC-Mame died?  I know that there has been some people trying to keep the last version alive but, one would think with all the MAC sales it would be better supported/updated.

Thanks,

MacMame has been dead for a while.  Mame OSX is the latest available and there hasn't been an update available for it since beta .124 (they are up to .131u1 in the current development branch).

Thanks for the info...

Its too bad... Some of the newer converted PE+ files wont play on that version on Mame OSX.  I guess its time to upgrade my MAC and be able to have Windows too.

DDD.
