Mastercom 250

I have two questions:  I'm going to change the name in the mastercom  -
1.  Does anyone know what what type chip that's in it?  Whenever I try the ID function on my programmer it doesn't work. 

2. Has anyone played with the SlotLine jack to communicate with this thing?   I did some searching but came up blank.

So I'll change the name on the display tonight.  I would like to communicate with the box - maybe set up a database and have valid cards.  Track points etc.

Hmm, here comes the brain picking! 

Seems kind of odd that they would use either a 1Mbit or 4Mbit in the same application, but the manual does state that it supports "up to" 512k memory. Is there less functionality with the units that use the 1Mbit eprom? Is there a reason to want to upgrade the eprom if it's 1Mbit for home use? Yes, I'm nerding out again!

Which eprom do you have?

I don't know yet - I have to scrape off the bally sticker to reveal the window and numbers.

If it has a window it wont work, well unless someone jumped pins.  It should be a flash chip that erases in your programmer.  These work wit 1meg, 2meg or 4 meg chips, the 4 meg file can be used on a 1 meg chip and it will work.

Just burned chip and it worked great! It's the Am29F010 chip.  I sure would love to talk to this thing though.

I lied... I used AM29F010 because it was printed on the circuit board but in fact the chip is AM29F040.   I ruined the bin and now it's useless 


The thing just says booting... because I didn't get the complete image of the chip.

try again with your programmer set for the correct chip.  What casino was it from?

I tried.. I erased the chip and burned the image that I made back on with no luck.   The casino was Pearl River Resort.  When go down past address 001f550 the chip is blank.


*** - The original image that was on the chip ***   - I think because I had the wrong chip size I only copied 25% of the chip.

I may be able to help you out, I have some pearl river chips, I'll look for them.  I doubt that's why it wont work though. I bet you went outside of the editable area.

But even the unmodified version doesn't work.

Would it matter from one casino to another?

I'm sure you have the notch to the edge of the board.  Isn't your chip an amd am29f040B??

The Pearl river is an easy one to mod.  I have seen some that are encrypted.

So the moral of the story is don't backup 25% of your chip.  It won't work!
 

The name change worked fine to.  Amazing what those extra bits will do!
