I accidently switched the Reel Prom Chip/Game Prom Chip. I switched them back and it seems to be fine. Did I lose any of the settings on the Game Prom, and will everything be okay?? STUPID- STUPID MISTAKE!!!  frying pan

If this is an S+, you shouldn't have any problems as they are the same eprom, so power and ground pins are the same.  yes

If you put one or the other in backwards, then you have power and ground on data pins, and that will let the smoke out. These devices need smoke to work, so if you let the smoke out, they stop working. arrow

LOL!! Whew!! Thanks brichter for the info. One thing I didn't do and hopefully won't, is put one in the wrong way. I'm playing it now and everything seems fine. Thanks Again!!!

Don't let it happen again! boss

LOL...I done exactly what you did many times...
to avoid this from happening again, take a sharpie with a bright, long - lasting color like red and
mark the indentation side of your eprom on top...
Believe,me, you'll never make that mistake again....lol

I learned this from one of our favorite vendors...
they would send me chips with red  marked chips...works perfectly everytime!

Just getting over a head cold and had my system full of medicine!  loser Two things I have learned from this: Don't change out game kits and don't flash wireless routers with 3rd party firmware when your on cold medicine!! The medicine has it's own ideas on how things should be done!!  bust gut laughing

I remember visiting Ben Jr in LA. He and I had a good laugh about the 3 bad eproms that he sent his client.
This was before he started marking which end was which......

The eproms were not bad, the guy he sent them too kept putting them in aligning the slot label to what was etched in the motherboard.
Smoke was released each time......

Ahh the smoke! At first, I never think to look at that little dent in the chip when putting it in. It's right before I put it back in the machine that my stomach turns and I realize that I had better make sure. I've had them in wrong once and luckly, I caught it before power was applied.

I guess I'm the lucky member of the group. I put my S+ chips in backwards once and turned it on. I knew I screwed up immediately as the machine didn't boot properly. I figured that the chips were toast, but when I reversed them and tried them again, the machine came right up.
