I have recieved a S2000 Slot machine that had a mikhon progreesive and cham II+ Controller. Cactus

at the casinio it was apparantley plugged into another device. to get its updates. from motherboard it was ussing 3 wires pins 1 2 3 and from chamII+ it was using pin 5 and 6 just above the rs232 connector. those five wires go to a plug that is not plugged in. on the prog display i get alternating C1 and $0.00. on the slot machine I get progressive link down
any help would be appretiated.

Thanks

The other device was probably a CON2.
The three wires collect COIN IN information from the slot (actually 2 of them do) and send this to the CON2. The third wire is a Data Line back to the slot so when the jackpot is won it can display the information on the Winner paid LED diplays.

The other 2 wires carry current jackpot information from the CON2 (as it links a whole bank of slots together) so the current amount is always available.

Now the real question is this a CHAMII or a CHAMII+ the "plus" model can handle standalone progressive functions without the need for the CON2. Where as the non-plus version is just a LINKER box and a slave to the CON2. The plus model is selectable to either standalone or linked mode.

Your slot needs to be in linked mode and you need all 3 wires connected or you will get that.
Your 3 pins are COIN in, GND and Data IN.
Coinin and gnd short to increment the progressive value upon the play of a coin or credit.
The data in is the info (shared on the gnd line) that is fed back to the slot.

Have you taken the CHAMII+ out of LINKED mode and put it back to standalone ?

Is the connector on the MB of the S2000 labeled J85?

When I first connected my CHAMII+ to my S+, I had the same symptoms and it was because I was connected to the wrong MB connector. It's hard to get a face close enough to determine that sometimes, I used a mirror and a flashlight for a better view.

there is no J85 on this or any of my S2000 MB. J19 is the highest it goes. the connector for progressives is J15 on these

ok i got it working with it updateing. the problem now is when i turn off the power to machine, the setting that i sent it to make it work seems to not stay set, i have to resend the setting with psp or it to link back up, the jackpot amount is correct from the previous turn off but when i resend config it also resets jackpot.

Did you save your setting when you exited?

it says wait for save when exiting, what i did notice is that the F5 (M08) and F8 (MS08) settings that make it work, seem to revert back to M07 and MS00 when chamII+ is powered off.

are those settings able to be changed somewhere else so they will stay.

if i change minimum jackpot settings that seems to retain.

Being new to this also, I am playing with the old con1 and PSP at home so your settings are a little different. On the old one I had to load it a few times before it would take and stay. Also I have the option to save or not. The M-08 is for the IGT machines as you probably know. Jay is one of the resident experts here. Maybe he can chime in when he logs on.  Sorry I'm not much help on the Cham II.

When you exit PSP there is an option that reads press F2 to save settings......this writes out a file called PSP.CFG usually to the C:\PSP directory.
Even if you create a separate directory to run PSP from it creates C:\PSP and creates a PSP.CFG file if one does not exist.

You can usually recall the settings by going to the specific screen and pressing F2 which will LOAD what is in the progressive memory back to the program.

I just installed this game with progressive. I increased the jackpot to make it more interesting. My problem is I can't excess
options 7.1.4 to make the machine increment. Also not sure what to place in each category. Can anyone help me step though it? I am using the following;

SB100027 (Tabasco)
SG00363
VS011GX1
And of course DSV00022

Ron

<edit> I now see I put .10 increments instead of .25 as I wanted. Duh!

I hate to tell you this Ron but 363 does not have a 7.1.4 menu according to the PSR.  If you want to set up the progressive you need to go to 7.3 menues using the key chip.  362 has that 7.1.4 menu but it's WAMM - IPC Setup.

Still can not get my S-2000 to increment the jackpot. My CHAMII+ is out of a Bally.
I changed the harness J7 connector and the Mother Board connector to a IGT Vision harness.
I changed the 7.3.1 Progressive to Link: Level 1 and the 7.3.2 Progressive display setup to None.
I still get LINK PROGRESSIVE DOWN
I can change the jackpot amount very easy with the RS232.
My S-2000 is 6/03.
The firmware reads MFG I.D. STA2795 U19, Mikohn V2.05 (AGC2), 2002 Bally 2MB. Do you think this is the problem?  Help

I would think that you would need a different chip in order for it to work in an S2000.
Maybe that Bally firmware  only reads Bally protocol?
Can you change the protocol to a Bally type via keychip?

That's what I was thinking that I need a new chip. I would not know how to change the protocol anyway.

Maybe someone can look at were firmware and see what they have, if it is hooked to a S-2000.
The next question would be, who has a chip for sale that would work?

As far as I know the firmware is the same for all platforms.  The harnesses make the difference along with the settings using PSP software.  There was a bulletin from Mikohn that early model S2000s had a timing issue and version 2.11 of the firmware fixed that.  The fact that the machine locks up with a PROGRESSIVE LINK DOWN error indicates that there is a communication problem between the machine and the CHAMII+.  I would be looking at the cable connection or the settings.  Also, has it been confirmed that this CHAMII+ actually communicates with a machine, like the S+?
