Anyone have some info on these I just got from John1234567890 (wow! rudy)
I'm looking for a PSR for these perhaps?
These are slightly outdated and could be very rare?

Wow, earliest PSR I have is 419.  050 has got to be the earliest one I've ever seen or heard of.

Makes you wonder what SS's are compatible with this SP...
I don't even know what "Type" it is, or what it can do.
The only other info on the chip is that it's written to a NM27C256Q device at 250Ns.

Put them in with a type 0 game and see what happens!  
At that point you ought to be able to determine their game type by going through the setup options, and while you're there, you can poke around and see what options are and are not available.

What do ya know, I got me a set of those SP050 from Rudy too.  Very interesting, and mine were also labled  " (1-256) "  I can only assume this refers to the number of virtual reel stops.  I made a backup copy in case I want to use the Eproms for something else.  The data read out just fine with a check sum of 484A.  I'm very curious to see what these dinosaurs can do too.

What is interesting is that IGT had grand hopes by labeling it 050 vs just 50.
You didn't see 731 being a 0731 even though they were more than 50% of the way.

i know this is a little late but i believe the rest of the info on that chip 050 is the mfg reference to lot number or part number and chip size. the 250 i believe is the chip speed ie. 250ns. quite popular during those days but rather (and i am being nice) slow today. I have an sp043 and a sp054 as my oldest. never done anything with them, until i saw this post and thought what is my oldest one.

Now that this topic is revived.....

The (1-256) actually means that it is intended for a 256K eprom, such as M27C256, but your guess was pretty logical!  It is nice that IGT does this on their labels so that you can usually read them using the generic size listed without having to peel the label to see what part it is. (sometimes you can then ID the chip to get the MFGR information)

Would anyone have a PSR sheet for the SP050?
When I hit the test button, it showed "1-1"...I have no clue what that is.


Oh, and by the way...
I had to flip/move the jumper on the Game socket over
to the "E16" pin position in order to get it to "boot up" on a 10MHz S+ board. 
I would appreciate it very much!

Pressing the "Spin" button gives me the option to make it [1-0] or [1-1] in the "Winner Paid" window.

I like this page option for checking my coin hopper
operation....pressing the "Spin" button spits out 10 coins thru the hopper optics.
But holding the "Spin" button down keeps the hopper spitting out coins continuously.

This one throws me off!  The SP chip detected that I'm running a SS7091 chip in it
but it doesn't alternate with the SP chip number?
I'm running a SS7091 3CM SSchip in the reel socket for these tests...
the game is called "Bonus Sizzling 7's".
The "Spin" button is lit up....so I hit it and the reels spin to the jackpot of 1,000...
The "Credits" window displays [1000] and so on and so on- down the paytable of a BS7's award glass
every time the "Spin" button is pressed..

This looks like the  "Max Hopper Pay","Bill Acceptor Credit Limit" settings...

This is page eight of the options and is for "Partial Pay" settings...

There are no more options on this SP050 chip....
Pressing the Test switch turns the display off briefly and brings the machine into regular game play mode.
The IGT techs didn't invent/steal/pay-big-bucks the [9-0] option to enable/disable the game yet.
Also, it appears that there aren't any options yet for the progressives...

This brings me to the end of chip testing for today....
