Thank you very much. ITS NOW WORKING.  Just a quck question if you wouln'd mind.  Do I have to grease this machine, if so where. Yhe manual I have has a picture of where I should be greasing but it's real dark and I can't make it out.     Thanks    Sharon

Glad to hear your machine is working again!

The only lubrication required is the handle assembly;
 Ratchet lever, Lock lever end, Handle boss roller bearing, and trip lever collar.
If you have a manual, go to the back in the parts area. Page P11 shows where these parts are on the handle.
I must admit I never have greased the handle assemblies on my Uni's. Never really use the handle, only once in awhile.

hello, hope i am doing this correctly. i need help with a universal stars and stripes slot machine. I'm not a repair man and have never owned one. this machine belongs to a older couple that loved it dearly. when it broke they called the local repair man who took there service call money and told them the machine was junk, said he would sell them another for 600 and take this one off there hands. they paid him 90 dollars for the 15 minute house call and they have very little money to spend. so my wife volunteered me to repair it, when they dropped it off sadly they said if i can not fix it throw it away because they can not afford to pay another repairman. when they left it looked like they had dropped off a loved one at the funeral home. anyway i really want to get it up and running for them.
they said one day it just stopped. nothing worked but florescent lights. i plug ed it in and verified what they had said. i first looked at all the common things. fuses, power Cord, all plugs. board connections, switches and buttons. i found nothing unusual. i pulled the main board and opened it up, i found the battery had began leaking onto the board. so i immediately removed the battery and cleaned the area the best i could. i installed a new 3.6 volt lithium battery. reassembled it and tried again. at first nothing. i did the ram clear thing and did finally get it going. worked good all day. the next day at start up it was not working again, lights only. the digital display does not light up and if i wait a while sometimes it just lights up then will work. sometimes it blinks on and off, but the game will not work unless the display comes on. can anyone help. i had read about a noise filter that caused this problem for someone, and they removed it solving the problem. where is the noise filter, and do i just take it out. or do the wires have to be connected. please help if you can. thank you very  much.

hello, sorry for jumping in on someone Else's page but i need help with a universal and can not seem to figure out how to start my own page. I'm trying to fix a universal stars and stripes slot machine model number 8542 3 for a old couple. they really love the machine and can not seem to find a repairman that will fix it. they all want to just take there money. anyway the florescent lights all work. but nothing else. all fuses are good, i checked all connections and switches and did all the reset buttons and found nothing. i did remove the main board and found the battery leaking out onto the board. so i removed the battery and cleaned the board the best i could. i purchased a new 3.6 volt lithium battery and soldered it into the board just as the original was. i put it all back and still nothing. however with a ram clear and a few other tinkering i did get the machine to start. the problem is this. the digital display is not working on start up. the win meter, credit meter part. now sometimes it will suddenly come on and then the game will play. i actually had it working for a full day and was great, i even decided to buy my own machine. but the next day when i powered it back up the display was out again. it comes and goes. how can i fix this problem. its like the power to the display is shutting off but the florescent lights are still on. i really want to get this running for the people. the machine means a lot to them, and now that i played it i understand why. very exciting at times. please help. thank you.

If you don't have keys, how did you reset it? A RAM clear? What keys don't you have?
Keys are not really needed unless you can't open the machine!!
