I think as part of member enrollment everyone should have to include there location. I think more of us would be inclined to offer help if we knew where the "Help Wanted" was from. Am I NUTS?   (Sorry wrong thread) Mod. Please move.

I agree a location is nice to know.  I think it's fascinating to find people all over the world coming together on this site to help each other.  However, this is an online world, so all the necessary precautions should always be considered.  You could require a location, but in the online world, people could just lie anyway.  Working with IT security, I often caution people about what they post online.  The younger generation was raised in the online social world and have no fear of it.  I don't fear it either no more than I fear a public event, but in both cases, I remain vigilant.  Just like you should be aware of your surroundings in a public event, you should be aware of your surroundings on a public site.  It's surprisingly easy to find out everything about you online ... where you live, what you own, pictures of the inside of your home, how much you make, how much you paid for your home, your credit score and even SSN, children, family, relatives, etc.  Have you ever Google'd your own name?  One of the most common mistakes people make online are weak passwords and using real answers to security questions.  This gives criminals access to bank accounts, Ebay, Amazon, etc.  All sad but true.  There are bad people out there.
 Evil

For these reasons, I think that's why people are hesitant to post more information about themselves.  I really am named, Dave, and live in Henderson, Nevada.  I was lucky enough to be in a commercial too, which is on my profile, so you  can see me in person.  Plus, I'm a public service employee in the IT field, so more information is posted about me than I care to have out there, but that just goes with the job.

I could not agree more!  On-line security is so very important.  It get very frustrated when I hear about very reputable and trusted companies (and Government records) that are hacked due to THEIR lack of security practices with our personal information.  Why any company would NOT use strong encryption when storing personal and financial information is beyond me!  I don't understand why most banks still do not use multi-factor authentication with on line services.

As Dave said, everyone should be using a very strong Password with any website that we use for personal or financial transactions.  Every site
should have a unique password as well.  The BEST way to accomplish this is to use a good Password manager.  I HIGHLY recommend LAST PASS!
https://lastpass.com/index.php
Last Pass is FREE and very secure.  You Remember ONE very strong Master Password, and Last Pass will generate and keep track of all other very strong unique passwords.
You can even use multi-factor authentication with Last Pass if you wish.  All your unique passwords are encrypted and secure.
You will not find a better or more secure password manager than Last Pass!
