I am new to the slot machine collecting hobby (addition).  I just picked up my 6th machine a Bally 5500 7777.  My quarters are being diverted to the vault rather than going to the hopper . . . . . what do I need to do?   Thanks for anybodys help.

I don't know that machine, but I would start by checking the basic functioning of diverter mechanism to see where the fault is coming from.

Basics:

Coins are diverted to the vault/drop when the level on the hopper is "too high" (hopper full of coins)...  The machine knows when the hopper is full trhough a sensor .. It could be a switch (weight type sensor) or it could be an isolated metallic plug inserted in the hopper itself, where the coins are usually stored.  In the last type I mentioned, when the coins reaches the plug, there will be a ground signal going through that wire that activates the diverter circuitry.

Hope it helps... good luck!!

Check what SAT said, and if it's still happening, check your hopper setting, if it's set to pay zero coins from the hopper it will divert the coins, this can be corrected by disconnecting the diverter solenoid.

I have asked for this to be moved to the Bally Reel games thread.

Thanks,
