Need some advice on buying a Gameking

     Well after my little New Years trip to the Shreveport Casinos, my Wife has relented and told me it would be nice for her to have a Game King at the house so she could
"Practice" playing her favorites games   So i am soon to be in the market for a really clean one.  I know very little about these, other that what I have seen in the casinos.
What should I look for when buying one of these (other than overall working condition and the amount of screen burn in.)??  Are these as easy to work on as the S+??
How hard/ expensive is it to replace the touch screen etc?  I am thinking I would probably like one of the later versions with 20+ games etc... There is a guy here locally that appears
to have a fairly clean machine for about $1500.  What questions do I need to ask etc, or test to run when I go look at it?

Try to get a 3902 based GameKing. The 3802 series is OK, but your better off with a 3902 if you have a choice.
They wil do 31 games with Multi-Denom software installed. Simply set up 12 games per denom, and repeat as you please for a total of 31 games. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE CLEAR CHIP FOR IT.
Coin Handling..your choice, but since it's going to eat a lot of credits, a hopper and coin mech might not be a plus.
Picture...make SURE the CRT is not burned in, that it's bright/sharp and color is good. Nothing ruins the fun like a crappy display.
Consider a larger screen GameKing, I have a 13" and thinking of going to a 19 or 20" CRT.
Make sure it has the ENHANCED sound installed, or you will miss a lot of the sounds the game has to offer.
If you do get a 3902 based GK, you can get a extra MPU and run I-Game stuff in it, cant do that with the 3802. Takes less than 10 minutes to swap the MPU shelf and restart the cabinet as a new game.
Round top, Choptop or 16" makes no differance..your choice.

Single row of buttons= 3802
Dual row of buttons = 3902
Speakers on sides of player tracking bar= 3902

Just 2 notes that I would add....although at $1,500 it is likely a 3800 series single betting deck, if it is a 3902 that is a decent deal on that.  Note one, the 3902 offers you the option of playing video slots as well on the same machine as Kirk mentions, but you do not have to get an extra board if you do not want that expense, you can use the same board and just swap simms and software on it.  Well worth the few hundereds more in investment for that machine type with the double betting deck.  And two, if possible, I would pick up a GK machine with the most recent software revision which is 5.3.

If you want to be 100% of the which board it is - look under the MMII board (if installed) for the part number on the board and the last 4 digits is what you are looking for. See attached picture of a 3902 part number.
