can anyone tell me what type of eprom is used for a 5500 and also the 6000 clear chips?

the same as the mains.  For the S5500  28 pin 512k eproms such as am27c512, or m27c512, and for the S6000 2 meg 32 pin eproms such as am27c020, or m27c2001
