Welcome to  nlg.  The VLC machines are generally a pain in the butt and you may need a clear chip that is nearly impossible to find.

But, before you go down that road, try the instructions in this post.  No promises that it will resolve your problem, but it's worth a shot.

To clear a ramset error you will need to "Zero" the machine.  This will make all memory chips match each other.
This process requires a special "Zero" pal for your chip set.
If you have to replace batteries, you can try replacing one at a time and powering on the machine between each battery change.  With any luck the machine will copy the memory over.  Once you get the ramset error your out of luck and you will need to find someone with the correct zero chip.

Welcome Fixer to  nlg -- glad to have someone else here who knows something about VLCs.  I feared that the folks posting in this thread would need the clear (zero) chip.

Hi guys,
I can reset VLC boards as long as they are 88XX series and have Video on screen, I do have two different
zero chips with matching software, so I can change the software in a board that don't match my zero chip,
clear it then replace your software and re initialize the game. Currently I am charging $125.00 for the clear
and re initialize plus $20.00 return postage, The ram batteries can also be replaced @ a cost of $15.00 for the
main battery, and $8.00 each for the three on the NAV RAM unit
PM me for any additional info.
