Good news people!!!    propeller

The printer is now working like a champ!

I installed the firmware version GUN0010020 (Thanks Mike!!!) and it was lovely... the connection was established successfully between my laptop and the printer, it automatically erased-verified-downloaded the whole thing and all the red lights/problems/errors went away  yes  I saw only GREEN light ... Didn't realize before how beautiful is the GREEN light  yes  rotflmao

I was able to print a self test ticket and a test ticket confirming the firmware was successfully installed in my printer, having it ready for operation in consequence, so this is pretty much finished  yummy

An important note: the firmware files of either "GEN2" and "GEN2 Universal" are specific for each type of printer.  The "GEN2 Universal" firmware file is a ".SHA" file, while the firmware file for the GEN2 is ".VFX" file.  Bottom line: the firmware used for one won't work for the other!!!

I'm attaching a screen-shot of a successful download in the GEN2 Universal for everybody to know how it looks like, what software is needed and all the details in order to avoid them having the troubles I had.  That's my contribution to this wonderful forum (for now...)

I also want to express BIG THANKS  to all who, in a kindly manner, provided tips, suggestions, manuals, files and any sort of help...  I told my colleagues here that there is a bunch of good technicians/friends behind this solution, so:  All the credit is for you guys!!!  K+ for that!!!!    Clap Clap Clap Clap  applause applause applause applause  Hail Hail Hail Hail

Hope to see you in other thread's I'll surely be making myself  Tongue Out

Great stuff - Glad its working. So does the printer communicate to the machine via the USB port or the netplex port ?

It's a tricky question...  The printer communicates with my laptop through USB ports, and that's for sure USB serial com.  But when I print out a self-test ticket the protocol stated as interface is NETPLEX, so it's kind of both I think.

The printer does USB for firmware upgrades and netplex for the slot machine.

Correct me if I'm wrong...

Thanks to all for your comments and another round of K+ on me Cheesy

Depending on the machine where you have the printer installed you could need a firmware for RS232 or NETPLEX communication protocol.

The number you listed is for IGTs running GEN2 Universal printer which communicates through an USB cable, but when you print out a test ticket it lists NETPLEX as the protocol used.

Hope this responds your question.

Hi,
I am also in need of the firmware (GUN0010020-Netplex) for a Gen 2 Universal. I have been sent incorrect firmware now 4 times. This is for a S2000 machine with the Gen2 Universal printer. Can anyone assist please?  Please email it to me. My email is in my profile.  It would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Everyone,I had similar issues but I wish to go further.
I am using windows 7 x64.
Why is the Gen2 printer detected as "unspecified device" instead as a standard printer in windows 7?
How to make it the default printer such as to run a print test?

Wow.... it's been quite a while.

I'm not sure if this things works with Win7....  Try the good old Xp to see if it works.

Cheers and happy new year.

Hi Sat,

Happy New Year to you too.
Thank you so much for your prompt reply.
I really appreciate it.
I will check it with XP.
By the way I have a doubt about the firmware.
I did a self test on the printer so am uploading the pics herewith.
I would like to seek your advice regarding the interface, according to the selftest it shows serial communication.
The fact that I intend to hook it on my pc via USB port,I wondered if the settings is corrrect.
Thanking you in anticipation.

Best regards,
Ravi Wink
