I have a sizzling sevens machine that has a 16 meg board.  I cleared the ram and set the machine up. I could not get the bill val. to keep the bills. It will take them in for about 3 seconds than return it. I changed the 16 meg board from another game that is the same kind and now the bill val works. What I need to know is what is burned out on the board that stops it from keeping the bills. Any help would be great.

Did you use the exact same SP chip on both boards?  When it takes the bill, holds it for a few seconds, then rejects it, that's usually a sign that the ID of the bill validator isn't compatible with what the SP chip supports.

Given what you've said, this probably won't work, but just for giggles, have you tried a $1 bill?

Hi yes I did try a 1 $ bill same thing. Just has me puzzled as to what could be wrong with that board. I am going to change the game to a 5 times pay and see if the same thing happens.

I had similar troubles and ended up doing a  full ram clr and reset bv and also when the bv takes the bill do you notice a flicker of the insert coin lamps.  If so check the Id of the bv chip.

Im not to familiar with the 16 meg board.  My issue was on a 10 meg board but it ended up being the Id of the Bv needed to be changed on the dip switches.  I had and older chip number and changed from !D 23 TO Id 22 with dip # 10 and cured problem.

Check out the post in billval forum  " Insert coin flicker"
