Any suggestions on what you guys and gals have used to replace your fluorescents in your S2000's? I have a SS Sizzling Sevens and a Ms. Little Green Men vision. I'm wanting to cut down on the heat output. The T5's in the vision are 6" I believe and the T8's in the body are 2 footers, right?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I know Happs has been selling them if you don't have qualms about paying
outrageous mystery shipping charges - then that would be the way to go!
However, I'd do an internet search at various light bulb warehouse websites.
for some reason, they're expensive as hell here in the states.
The companies here jack up the prices so high perhaps because of duty and importation costs.
Everything LED-wise is so much cheaper from overseas but you have to be patient on the shipping...
They seem to snail across the Pacific in slow boats...lol

I was afraid I was gonna have to do the over seas thing. I was just hoping someone had an in on a local place. I guess I'll order from Hong Kong and hope the container doesn't fall into the ocean. Unfortunately, that has happened to me before. Seriously. I've dealt with Happ before for my MAME machine and sticker shipping sticker shock is putting it nicely.

Thanks anyway,

Take a look at superbightleds.com they have sections for general lighting and for bars/strips.  They are not the direct plug ins like Happ sells but they dont cost an arm and leg either. With a little know how (which I dont have) there must be a way to make these work in slot machines.

HAPP buys their LED tube replacements from "LedTech" in Van Nuys, California Smiley
Now I'm not saying you should do a "End Run" on HAPP.....
Oh what the hell...yes..buy them directly from Ledtech...screw HAPP  Smiley

Or get CCFL bulbs for auto use, get a 12v plugin transformer, and make a holder where the florescent would normally go, I am thinking about doing this myself, colors available also.

I just happen to run across this thread.  Anyway, Som (asommer) has put CCFL on one or two of his machines but I think only in place of the reel light.  I think when he had The Munsters theme in he has one white and one green.  He said two greens was too dark.  I can ask him the next time I call him or when I go over see if he will let me take some pics.  I was thinking of doing CCFL too because Som said something about paying like $4 each for these he bought and he just tapped in to the coin demon.

That would be great. I'm just looking at options as obviously the fluorescents put off a lot of heat and they have faded the reels, especially on the Ms. Little Green Men. I mean the yellows are actually flaking away.

He might be in the middle of a "move" Dan. He was going to drop in up here in Vegas a few weeks ago and I didnt hear from him.
I'm pretty sure we will hear from him from his new location outside the USA Smiley
I will try his phone numbers I have in Socal and see if he answers...

He says to say "HI" to everyone for him, and thanks for thinking about him Smiley

Dan, he has been so busy with work he can barely do anything else.  I actually did get a joke email from him this morning, first email from him in over a week.  He hasn't had time to be on the site let alone be home or able to come out here to get the money I have to give him.

He might be in the middle of a "move" Dan.

Oh yea, that too.  He has lots to pack up to move.

As I recall, these are what Som has on his machine.  Just different colors or course.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2x-Blue-6-CCFL-Cold-Cathode-Neon-Tube-Light-Lamp-Bulb_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3efc042604QQitemZ270516102660QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

But I am wondering if these might be better??  They are 12 inch long instead of 6 inches long.

GREAT IDEA!!!
Think a little OUTSIDE of the box here.....
We all love a room totally lit up, it looks great. But who wants to have a few KW of power on all the time? Simply wire these to the outlet inside the machine or a seperate circuit and leave just the CCFL's lit, even tho the machines are asleep....
So these stay on,drawing close to nothing for power....
Use a X-10 controller to sense motion in the room so they light when you walk in....
I might have to order some of these to play with....

Thanks for the link Smiley

I have those Logisy lights on my S+.
I tried the "blue" light but it didn't work too well with some strips.
Especially if some symbols on your strips are green like Leap Frog for instance.
The colors don't look right.
I really like the white ones but it's all depends on what color strips you have.

The little Velcro's tend to fall off, and when it does,
it happens usually while the reels are in motion  hissy fit
I find it best to use an adhesive such as Goop to hold the lights in place.
It dries to the consistency similar to bathroom caulking.
If the bulb ever burns out, you'll need a sharp exacto knife to cut it off.
Don't glue them to the reel glass or you'll be sorry later on when you have to replace it.

It's been so long since I have seen Som's setup  of these but as I recall he used the plastic cable ties to keep his in place.  This also made it easy to change colors if you change games.

Thanks for the notice.  If paying by PayPal doesn't PayPal convert it for you?  If I get around to ordering some I think I will go with the 12 inch ones.

As I recall, yes.   yes yes  I believe (but don't quote me) he took out the fluorescent bulb and cable tied the CCFL's in that area.  Like I said, it's been so long since I have seen his set-up of these.

in this picture look at the reel area, you can see how white the area looks in comparison to the belly and award.
