Wow, this forum seems much much more friendly than neogeo.com where I come from! Great!

I still don't know this forum very well and don't know if DoubleZero is asking to me or to anyone else, but I'll tell you I'm a collector and in the past I worked in an arcade Op as technician, specialized in NeoGeo.

In Portland, Oregon, 69 years old, retired VP Engineering for a major manufacturing company, still an active consultant. Background in electro-mechanical & manufacturing engineering.

First contact with slots was as a young designer in the early 70’s working in a consultancy for TJM Corp: Terry & John Mills, who had combined Mills & Jennings and were attempting to survive the Bally EM tsunami.  While others worked on electronic approaches, my group was tasked with doping out new features and capabilities for strictly mechanical machines, simultaneously simplicating to reduce cost and improve reliability. Synergy between the two groups was exciting but we all know how it eventually worked out.

But even 40 years later, I’m fascinated by the proven psychology behind the multi-line and muliplier machines; and frustrated that some of the truly exciting game concepts we developed never made it to a casino floor.

Anyway, love slots and have been following this forum for a few years, never wanted to chime in until I properly qualified as an owner, just couldn’t find one like those I like to play. Finally, I have just acquired an IGT S+ 2-coin “Slam Dunk.â€�  Not a common machine, but I (and guests) do not need to bet 5-up for the highest payoff, the biggest jackpot is not so large as to be “once in a lifetime,â€� it has lots of little pays to keep it fun, and the “nudge downâ€� feature is highly entertaining.  

And baseline requirement to me, it is a “real� machine, with physical spinning wheels and real coins: no freakin’ paper tickets, credit cards, or TV screen!
There is nothing so visceral in gambling as plunking down solid ringing chunks of silver to place your bet, and listening to the machine pour a bucketful of them back into the payout tray. Can you imagine Craps or Poker being played with credit cards or wimpy little slips of paper?

Any road, I am pleased and honoured to join this group of neat people.  I look forward to interesting chats, hope I will be able to chime in helpfully from time-to-time, and hope also that my inevitable questions (pent up over many years!) will seem reasonable to all those of you with so much more experience.

This is my first post. I'm from Mesquite, NV. I own a small electronics company and just acquired three Pot O Gold console machines. In the past I have also had a number of POG system boards come in and some other parts and pieces.

I am interested in selling these machines, but as this isn't my usual line of stuff, any help as far as pricing would be appreciated. Thanks for having an interesting site with such great info.

Its been a few years since I have been on the forum and I don't remember posting anything the first time but I have to say that I do more perusing than anything else typically my questions get answered before I ask them!
I currently have a 3 coin Wild Cherry set to nickles and a 2 coin double strike set to dollars (my tokens are really cool copper from Osborn Coinage) and enjoy the Double strike and replaced the Battery in the Wild Cherry and will be getting my reset chips in the mail in the next few days! Looking forward to modify that one into a Magic the Gathering themed machine!

I'm sitting here, reluctant to proceed on ram clearing several Novomatic Gaminators that somebody cleared last week - and forgot to set them correctly so that the printers will work.  Right now every cash out is a "hand pay"....

As a "NOOB" to New Life - I find it fascinating that so many peeps from such a diverse background have, love, touch, dream about, convert, and play slot machines as a hobby.  I have been working as a slot tech since graduating from Nevada Gaming School, Reno in 1986.  Touched more than my fair share of slots, to say the least.

Hi gang - I'm writing this now instead of completing complete ram clears for four Novomatic Gaminators, that somebody forgot to option properly this week as they were ram clearing the machines to increase the payout percentage!  I know - it's nearly impossible to believe.

I'd like to comment that it amazes me how many individuals from many different jurisdictions love to play, fix, repair, convert and hoard old slot machines!  But I know they are addicting to troubleshoot, at times.  I've been a tech since graduating from Nevada Gaming School in Reno in 1986...and started a tech career at Harrahs in Lake Tahoe.  My first days were spent learning how to weld and braze PACE machines back together.

Today Im working the weekend in a foreign casino (contract labor) repairing what the attendants broke during the week.

No need to bore anyone to tears - just thought I'd introduce myself!

Hi guys,

Just saying hello and first post on the site. I'm from Dublin Ireland and have about 15 machines of all types. Just got another two and came with a manual with a few pages printed out from this site. Looked you's up and here I am

Anyway ill probably be posting in the tech section as I learn more about the new projects. There seems to be a bit of good info on here too..

Not much maintenance on these machines other than a few spare parts like batteries and bulbs.
If you have any problems, you have come to the right place.
