I am trying to clear a BV CRC MISMATCH error on an S2000 machine. In the past I have just opened and closed the main door to clear the message, but this one is tricky... The NETPLEX setup says BV INSTALLED and I can hear it run through a cycle when the power is turned on, but each time I reboot the machine, I get the same message. I read a post some time ago that said to disable the BV, close door, open door enable BV close door, but the same results. The funny part is that the error will go away if you open and close the door, but the BV never accepts bills and if you reboot, it says the same thing.

It's a MARS style BV although I'm not sure that makes a difference.   Help

This BV is a working unit. It was in the "water damaged" cabinet and was working perfectly.

Here is a picture of the unit's info...

Try the following
1 Tests, I/O, Auto-Configure Netplex devices (4.3), Press the Spin reels switch.
This has the machine find all netplex devices and hopefully store the new CRC for the BV.
2 Options, Machine Options, Limits, Bill Limit (3.1.4) set it to a value you like using the change and cash/credit switches.
3. Make sure the BV, transport, and cash can are properly installed and seated.

Foster, I just tried all you suggested, but no difference.

Barry, the BV was taking money with no problems before I moved it. I wanted to use it in the new machine.

I just tried the BV test in the menu features as well and the unit would not even take/reject the bill.   Scratch Head

But if I remove and then replace the cash can, the BV goes through it's cycle, so I know it's getting power...

After the code clears (with the door closed), did you wait a while to see if it comes up?

Thanks,

Have you had any working BVs in this machine?

If all else fails, swap the main board and see if it works, that will narrow it down..

Thanks,
Wayne

Rob,  It would have helped to know the application which you are installing this.  I have had some problems in the past just snatching and switching.  The diff. game platforms look for the id. no matter which one--If it does not match --You have to set it up in that game.  Sometimes it takes more than a "auto-net-plex config" or a manual config thru tables.  I think you said you knew it worked in your VISION/water game so you were sold on the fact it was good.  B.

Any other errors?

VFD loosing communication with MPU - "Display Netplex down" or "no disp" on the LED.

Inspect the motherboard for damaged traces, etc.

My S2000 did strange things, and the top box netplex would not work then i inspected the motherboard
Found damaged traces near the printer and top box netplex connectiors on the motherboard.

It will be easier to swap the DBV than to swap a motherboard in an S2000.
I would try that first.
See if any pins got bent on the DBV harness when you switched over.
If all looks good, swap the motherboard.
I think the DBV is good, the MPU is good...everything else is questionable at this point.

Go into the settings and disable the DBV and then enable it again without leaving the menu. I have cleared the mismatch a few times doing it this way. Other times I have had to clear the memory.

Did you transfer the matching interface plug form the old machine to the new one?   Mars has a different plug coming off their unit, and there is a plug that connects to the IGT square plug

Problem solved!!!

Turns out that the MARS has a unique housing for the cash can with a lever in the rear that piviots when the cash can/BV is installed. Well... It turns out the the security switch from the casino was still installed in the cash can housing and was blocking the lever from moving. I removed the swith and the unit is A+ once again!

Thanks to everyone who chipped in to help. I really do appreciate it. K+ for everyone.  Clap Clap Clap

FYI - I still have 1 PLCC chip to upgrade these acceptors to support 4 way acceptance on all bills including the new Nexgen $5 bill.  Check out this thread if you are interested.

I'm glad you got your machine up and running Mr.Bellman!  applause

It doesn't explain why the error code would point to a "BV CRC MISMATCH" though...Hmm   Scratch Head 2
That error code would normally point one to a possible
bill acceptor chip or ram chip being corrupted or incorrect for the machine.
That's a strange configuration for error codes -
you'd think it would say "BV DOOR OPEN" or something like that?
