I am looking for ideas on how to improvise the stop bumpers on the handle mechs of my S+.
Almost every S+ I have ever seen has had a similar problem.  That runny sticky orange substance
that melts? that once was the bumper stop on the ratchet mech.  At least with mine, this does not give proper distance
for the device at the end of the stroke, and as a result the mech does not reset.    hissy fit
Does anybody have a workable substitute or modification?  Scratch Head

Yea, I used the that thread the first time I had to replace a solenoid.  Thanks Bunker.
Anybody know the proper thickness for the bumper?  I have some leather that might work... Tongue Out

the "BUNKER" PAD  is at a slight angle, it goes from about an 1/8"  to the peak of 3/8" from the plastic part that it is mounted too.
Hope this helps     Jim

If you buy or ever have bought a ceiling fan from Home depot or Lowes, they always come with rubber spacers to keep the motor in place during shipping. I keep all of that stuff because you never know when you can use it. Cut the end off with the hole in it and use 5 minute epoxy to glue  the remaining piece to the flat plate where the orange thing was before it melted. Good luck.

Well, here is my solution to the bumper pad replacement problem for the handle mech.
I could not find anything satisfactory at the hardware store, so I came back home and went to digging around out back  Crazy
Man have I got a lot of junk!  arrow Any way, I stumbled across an old solid rubber bungee cord, studied it for a minute and decided to give it a shot...
I cleaned the melted orange goo off of the pad mount after spending some 20 minutes partially disassembling the handle mech.
Then I grabbed a razor blade and sliced off a measured pc of the rubber cord. I cleaned up and glued it to the plastic mount with a big dollop of
shoe goo. Clamped it under pressure for 1 hour, then remounted it in the mech.  So far 500+ cycles and its working perfectly!  rotflmao
All in all a simple repair, after you go the trouble of getting the darn thing out of the machine!!   yes
I hope it helps some else down the road.
