Here is a question I have. I noticed some of the Program and sound chip sets use 4001/040 while others use 801/080 chips.
When I look at the file sizes, they seem to be 1.0meg.
I'm familiar with the jumpers for 1-4Meg/8Meg on the 1.5+ CPU board.
How does one tell if the program REALLY needs a 8 Meg chip or a 4 Meg will do the trick?
Thanks!

The chips are rated in bits and files are in bytes.
The chips are configured so many bits wide for parallel EPROM's
27c080 or 801 is 8Mbit with a data path width of 8 bits or 1Megabyte in size or the size you need for your files.
27c040 or 4001 is 4Mbit with a width of 8bits or 512Kilobyte in size.

Thanks Foster!
Thats what I was thinking....
Seems most of the files I look at are indeed 1.0 Megs in size, very few are 512K.
Time to look for "Specials" on 27C080 or 27C801's

Agree with Post Me, too!
The chips come well packed and in great shape. It should take about two weeks from the Hong Kong ship date to arrive on the west coast and three weeks to arrive on the east coast. YMMV.

It's not that they're avoiding me, it's that they're using your  boat to get the chips to me!  Crazy Cry Laughing Cry Laughing
If you think that's bad, wait until you order some.
They START with that boat, and then give the chips to Forrest Gump at the Santa Monica pier to run to Massachusetts.  Cactus
You then have to drive to Massachusetts to pick them up -- if he ever gets there. frying pan slap Weird Eyes
