Author Topic: Back-To-Back Progressive Fortune II poker machines  (Read 6413 times)

Hi, I recently purchased several back-to-back Progressive Fortune II poker machines.  These machines are not your typical Fortune II machines, the power supply and cards are not in the machines, they are in the bottom cabinet.  I have several questions:
1 - What happens when you hit a Royal Flush?  The paytables say "Jackpot"
2 - On one of my machines the top light (white) in the candle stays on, what does that mean?
3 - Where can I buy replacement bulbs for the buttons, and bulbs that go behind the buttons on the middle glass (they look light flashlight bulbs)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Congrats on your purchase.

1) If you hit a Royal in the state they're in, the machine would lock up and likely just display, "Call Attendant" - "Jackpot".  The machines are currently set up to look for a progressive controller (like a CON1, I would guess for those) to keep track of the progressive jackpot.  The controller would keep track of the jackpot total, increment it based on coin-in on the machine, and then report the total to the machine, which would in turn display the current jackpot in dollars and cents on the screen.  When there's no communication (either because the progressive controller is missing, the link is down, or simply misconfigured), the machine just displays the word "Jackpot".

If the Fortune II's menus work like the PE+, you should be able to use the self-test button in the machine to cycle through pages of options, and disable the progressive jackpot for the Royal Flush, which should then display a static 4000 coins (for a 5-coin bet).


2) The top light on steady indicates that the "change" (or "service") button has been pressed.  Press the change/service button on the player button panel to turn the light back off.  In a casino, a player would activate that light to signal to an attendant that they need assistance.


3) Any of our vendors, like Jim at Blueridge slots, should have the bulbs you need in stock.  You can contact them directly via PM on the site, or through the ads at the top of the page.  You can also post a "WTB" ("Want To Buy") ad in the classifieds section of the forum, and a vendor will contact you.  The bulbs likely have a two or three digit number on them, and different lights (buttons, candle, etc.) may call for different bulbs, even if they appear to be the same shape/size.  Check the numbers if you can, and have those available when you contact a vendor or place a WTB ad in the classifieds to help the vendors identify what bulb(s) you need.

OK here is what I found out so far:

1) The Fortune II's menus DON'T work like the PE+'s.  In order to disable the progressive jackpot for the Royal Flush, I had to change the dip switch settings on the motherboard.  The three dip switches that control the paytable options are 6,7 and 8.  On my machines both 6 & 7 on and 8 off, and 6 on and 7 & 8 off display the paytable with 4000 coins (for 5 quarters bet) for a Royal Flush.  The second displays animation on the face cards after sitting idle for a short period of time. 
 
2) I tried pressing the change/service button again and light STILL stays on. 

3) After searching through many burnt out bulbs with a magnifying glass and a flashlight I found numbers on a couple of them.  The bulbs for the buttons are #86 and the other bulbs are #44.  I was able to scrounge up what I needed.

Thanks for the update.  If you need more bulbs, the vendors here should be able to get you what you need -- just tell them you need a box of 86s or 44s.

The top part of the candle is typically the "change" light -- try pressing the change/service button on a different machine to ensure that they're hooked up correctly, and then you can either start tracing wires, comparing the working machine to the one with the light stuck on, or try replacing the switch.  It's also possible that the cherry switch inside the button just isn't getting hit to turn the light off (could be broken plastic in the button).
