Installed Spectrum display in my S2000

Dan, all of my displays have the same label that you listed with the 70817000 number. Is this the chip you replaced or the non labeled chip above it by S1?

This is getting confusing!  lol....

The only chip I moved is the one right next to S1.  Which ever board I put this chip in scrolls.  This is the chip that the Version menu shows as "SDF100".

Hello all!

Well, as I investigate the IGT Downloader tool - it appears at minimum I would at least need a Serial to Fiber adapter/transceiver which start around $30-$40 on eBay to connect my machine to my computer.  I think I would rather take that money and invest it toward a burner.  I have run into instances before where I could have saved myself money if I had a burner....

The 2 that come to mind are Batronix and MCUMALL.

BX40 (super super Fast but costs more)  super easy software program to use too and does everything under the sun.

True-USB Willem programmer(GQ-4X)  Also super easy program to use and overall best value in my humble opinion.   It does require an adapter for PLCC but it comes with it in the full package.    FAST as well

Try to avoid the basic Willem Programmer that is all over eBay as most will not do the PLCC chips and or 40PIN S2000 Base etc.   Also they are much slower but some are decent.

Hello all!

Just wanted to post an update.  I received a new second SDF100 chip and installed it into my display that would not scroll and put it in my machine and now it SCROLLS!  So it would seem the SDF100 is the key.  That was the only thing I changed to make the non-scrolling display start to scroll.  It seems odd a newer version would have this feature removed - but hey, IGT has done weirder things before....

Did you modify the chip at all (burn new information into it,etc.) , or did you just drop it in straight from the store?
If that's all it took , then that's great! I haven't gotten into chip burning yet.
Life is complicated enough without getting into reading and deciphering checksums and the like...lol

I do not own a burner - I had someone else burn this for me, so I will check with them to see if they did anything special.  But I don't believe they did....

Ok, so vacation this winter (what with the trip to see Joey and avail my dirtbike of some of the finest and most challenging desert riding I've seen in years, and my daughter has never seen) was not used to install my Vision.

But, all is not lost. Can anyone identify the 3 connectors here, and supply a pinout?

I've seen this quoted picture in another thread



but can't tell what the 3rd connector on the left is connected to in that picture. I've got the bottom black Netplex connector wired, I just need to get the wiring for the power (and know if it's the 13 or 24 volt power the display needs).

These were pics Railroad94 had posted, here is the other pic that shows the dstribution board plug (2nd 10 plug from right) and the corresponding colored wires that match the pic you have shown above  Now if you do not have the netplex/power distribution board in your S2000, then an alternative wiring is needed.

 I believe that 3rd plug on the left is just a 2 pin molex connection for power of the actual display, which I think is 13v, but I am not certain. Tony, want to jump in here?

24v no no no        The bottom line is you need your netplex in the bottom connector (5) wires and 13 volt pos and neg which goes into the the 6 pin molex connector and gives power to the pcb board as pictured and then you can grab 13v + and -  from the adjacent terminals in the 6 pin connector and plug them in the lower 2 pin molex which gives power to the actual display.

Lower 2 pin? You mean the 2 pin just to the left of the 6 pin in my photo?

And, on the 6 pin the power goes in the 2 left pins (pins 1 and 4) and out the 2 center pins (pins 2 and 5)? I don't have the distribution board...

Do I understand correctly that you intend to run both a spectrum (in stand alone) and the CON2 (linked) using the 1 X 3 as a meter too?

I'll start out with just a standalone to verify everything is working, then add from there.

I'm still looking at the documentation (and don't have much on the Vision/S2000/Spectrum linked setup), but one of my goals is to have the S+ and the S2000 running a linked progressive to the CON2 with the in-machine displays mirroring the amount on the 1x3. I also want to try to set up a level of standalone on each along with a linked, with the standalone amount displayed on the in-machine displays and the linked amount on the 1x3.

Not sure if that will be possible yet, but the Vision appears to have the correct options to make this possible. Under the progressive setup, it seems there are menus for both (CON Select 7.3.1 and Standalone 7.3.3) in the PSR for SG000312 (Haywire Deluxe). I don't have a PSR for SG000018 (Slot Bingo) so I'm a little unclear on the options there. But, I'm an optimist, so I'll just assume it's possible until I prove it isn't.

I haven't been able to mix and match like what you want to do.  The S+ communicates fine but if I add a S2000 the S2000 won't link up.

Let us know how you make out.

One more photo.  The 2 X 3 alternates between about a 8 different animated graphics and the current progressive jackpot in between each animation.

I have enough parts to build another 2 X 3 but I was thinking of just expanding it to a 4 X 3.  Not sure I have enough memory in the Supreme to drive it though.
