Hello ,
I have a s2000 that i would like to bypass the hopper or simulate coins being dispensed without it actually happening. Some have suggested to add tabs to the hopper to accomplish this and avoid coin-out tilts. Anyone have the best method or instructions? Is their a kit to buy or someone has for sale on here? Thanks in advance! JR

stayoutadabunker did it with a slotted disk where the shelf wheel would be. as the tabs pass the optics, it counts down the payout.

Heres another way to do it, tokens and some pop rivets. Picture pretty much says it all.  This was on my S+
when I bought it...

I pulled mine out...It was a lotta of fun to make.
It counts down credits super fast due to the many slots
I notched out of the plastic I've attached in place of the pinwheel! yes

Here's another sample,came from S+ $1 hopper.
Pinball2000 what type of signal your dispenser take? pulse signal,110v,24v,12v,momentary+ -?
can you post the pics, people here like to see lot of pics..lol//
when cash out/hopper motor used 110vac and you have a sensor for pulse signal.
Make a hopper less and used 110v from motor to oper your relay. if you need a pulse,i recomm to add another sensor.
[add] S2000 hopper 24vdc motor.

Mark-bunker   i noticed your hopperless have 24 slots(24pin) Very fast huh, my also 24 pin, that is the max i can modified otherwise will get error code.

Yes, the 24 slots is about all it can take due to chip timing issues.
I tried 48 slots but got the errors too.
Still, 24 slots is very fast as compared to counting actual coins through the optics.

One of the tech geniuses here ott to be able to create a pulse circuit that would flash the optic at a certain frequency.

I was thinking that you could have a switch that would then swich from coin to coinless.

Its my understanding that you have a emitter and a receiver - the emitter is always on when the hopper is running as coins block the beam it counts each break as one credit payed. So if you created a small box that basically broke the signal at set intervals it would simulate the same thing that the wheel is doing.

-----Normal signal source to emitter--------------+      +----------Emitter->   <-Receiver ------------------------------
                                                              |       |
                                                              |       |
                                                              |    /  |     <--- Bypass (normal opperation switch)
                                                              |  /    |
                                                              +      |
                                                              |       |
                                                          Pulse     |
                                                         Circut-----+

Hopefully someone will put these up for sale shortly  Hail

Hi All

Yes its is possible to emulate the Coin in pulses to the processor. Please refer to this post http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=7238.msg67290#msg67290.
My circuit is taking longer than expected but as you can see in that thread BadBaud already has a working one available (Handling simulating coin in and coin out)

I have the coin In emulation working. Just need to get the hopper part going now.

Here is a 'proof of concept' mod I made to my upright S+ machine. No permanent modifications needed to be made. I took advantage of the coin holding 'bumps'. By making a simple extension for the optics lever, the bumps will push the lever up and activate the optics lever. This is a crude example that I just threw together, but I successfully 'paid out' 587 non existent coins. I plan to make a plastic part that will replace the roller assembly on the lever.

Ok, that was easy enough. I just cut a small piece of plastic (about 1/8" thick) and shaped it like shown. i needed to put one small washer behind it to keep it from binding on the wheel. A 6-32 screw holds it in place. Works perfectly and the hopper can be changed back just by putting the original roller back in.

Note: this is a quarter wheel. Not sure how it would work with others.
Aslo, by cutting a piece of plastic to fit in the hopper and block the coins from getting to the wheel, you can still feed it coins. I wanted to do this mod because I have all wins go to credits, and even though I can disconnect the cash out button, there may be times I may want to clear the credits without having the hopper spit them all back out.

The easy solution is to set hopper limit low that way when you cash out you can clear them with the JP key.
I have my S+ set up that way. S2000 prints a ticket if it exceeds the limits set.

S+ settings
Hopper Limit 300
Credit Limit 9999
BV limite 300
Single Win Limit 9999

True, but you still have to spit out the 300. And maybe it's the chip set I'm using (SP873), but if I have the hopper limit set low to like to 300, any credits over that get paid out by the hopper, so I keep the number high. There is no max credit limit setting for that chip. I don't recall why, but there was a reason I am using that SP. Scratch Head

In any case, this was just another easy solution for those that were looking for a way to trick the hopper.

The little black plastic "finger" mod was excellent poppo!  applause

I think if the hopper was set at 300, and you had like say 1,500 credits and
hit the cash-out button, it would just go to hand pay mode
only w/reset key and not try to pay out 300 coins.
That would be a "Split Pay" mode really - I think that was only available with certain SP chips.

Here is the SP872 PSR if it rings a bell.

With the SP873 I'm using (I mistakenly typed SP872 above), you could never get 1500 credits if the hopper was set to 300. Any credits over 300 will automatically get paid out of the hopper. So I keep the hopper limit high. There was some reason I was not using a SP1274, but I don't remember what it was.

Like I said, there was some reason I'm not. It may have been that I didn't like the faster way it counted credits, or maybe not being able to set for $.01, or maybe to get my home-brew progessive working right. But there was some reason I switched back to the 873. Anyway, this still solves my problem of not spitting out any coins, but still being able to use them.

poppo,
You know...the older SP chips have more sound files on them.
Unlike the newer SP chips which removed some of the sound files
so they could make room for more casino accounting stuff.

Maybe that's why you like the older SP's - I do too... yes

Did mine with an arduino microcontroller. It is hooked up to the SSR on a digital input pin. It strobes the coin optic pulse at around 30ms per coin. The display starts to skip numbers but it works reliably. Fastest clearing of 2000 credits I've seen. Gonna clear off 4600 on the machine that has been on auto play for the past 2 days this afternoon with the same setup. I'll take a video with my phone to post.

I have a live video feed of the machine at www.rocktheslot.com
