How hard is it to find these machines? I see some advertised with 69 games and wonder if anyone
has had any experience with them? Are the slot games full versions or ?? Judging by the screenshots,
they look pretty nice. I'd like to know how they look with a 19" LCD installed.

Thanks for any help!

This version of GK...in a one word is "excellent".  A huge step forward in the GK evolution.  Not all slot games are full versions but rather modified, enhanced versions of the original.  Texas Tea is my favorite...very fun with great sound and graphics.  Fortune Cookie is a full version along with a couple of others.

With regards to the 19" screen, for an upright cabinet, my personal preference is that I do not like it.  Given the average distance you sit from the screen, it takes too much eye and hand coordination to play poker and both your eyes and arm gets tired quickly.  My opinion is that the 19" version is more suited for slant top machines where you sit approximately 8 to 12 inches further from the screen.

A final note, there are in fact 69 games available to choose from and you can actually load up to 37 at one time versus the previous versions of GK where you could only load 12 at a time.

After reading your post, I agree about the 19" screen. Playing poker on the 17" feels too big at times
unless I can get a little further back, like you said.

I just became aware of them...so I've just started looking around.  I would like to own a 17" round top...

What kind of price range can I expect to find a good one?

Couple things you should be aware of if you shop around or decide to build one on your own.

First off...GK 6.0 runs on a enhanced 044 board.  So when you start with a 17" I-game cabinet you have to modify, that is, replace the mother board (back plane) with one that will work with the enhanced board that you need to run the GK 6.0 software.  So your investment is around $850 to $950 for this set up which includes the backplane, CPU, and flash card with the software.

Now your I-game cabinet will come with a CRT typically.  Most people will hold off in investing in a LCD because of all the upfront expense.  The problem here is that there are two versions of video display on the I-games, a 19 pin and a 25 pin.  Unfortunately the 19 pin will not work with this advanced set up.  The good news is that a 25 pin CRT set up will.  The bad news is that the 25 pin versions are not so easy to get.

If you have the bucks to invest in a LCD right away, then it does not matter.  You can use a 19 or 25 pin cabinet if you are going to install a LCD kit as the 044 board and backplane will work in either case.

Finally, I strongly advise that you not buy a 17" cabinet that was dedicated for poker games only.  It only has a single row of buttons which is great for poker but very limiting.  It's better to throw a couple more hundred dollars at it and get the I-Game Plus, where you have the two rows of buttons.  This way you can change out the games to some of the newest and best 044 slot games available like Davinci Diamonds, Shinobi, House of the Dead, Cleopatra II, etc.

Final issue is getting a hold of Game King "Multi-game" glass in the traditional blue or red colors.

I'll send you a PM on the total expected cost.  Below is a pic of one I just built, it's running 5.3 version of Game King....pretty attractive machine.

That's one nice looking machine...it is exactly what I am looking for.

Is the Wells Gardner LCD as good as the Ceronix? I've always been told the
Ceronix were a notch better than everything else....?

If I get the OK from my other half....how long are we looking at to put this together?

Also...where are you located?

Ceronix is a very good monitor.  Wells Gardner is equally very good.  I'll send you a private message on the other information you are looking for.

Ceronix vs. WG lcd's...i've had both brands of lcd's on my floor for over 3 years now and i gotta say that in the long run Ceronix blows WG out of the water.  the picture sharpness and clarity has held up much better on our Ceronix installed games than the WG's and i've had far fewer problems with the Ceronix lcd's.  and the warranty on Ceronix is 3 years compared to 2 for WG; Ceronix even has a warranty upgrade to 4 years for a reasonable amount of green.

btw: the GK 6.0 is better than Bettor Slots describes, pun totally intended.  Tongue Out  it is a great program and Fortune Cookie is hilarious...make that hirrarrious   bust gut laughing

That is what I have heard from a few other people...that Ceronix is worth the extra.
The warranty is 4 years now, according to their web site....interesting.

When I have Bettor Slots build it...I feel another $200 will be worth it.

The only problem now...is getting my other half to agree so I can order it....she's
weakening every day.....mmmm....might have to resort to guerilla tactics....

Thanks for your advice....wish me luck!

You can find as many Game Kings 6.0 as you want at http://toplineslotmachines.com/?attachment_id=413. Actually they have 76 games on them.  The 6.0 machines has the .044 platform with the advance graphics and memory.  At this website you can find a whole spectrum of Game Kings with multiple slots games. They have The World Poker Tour that has Texas Hold'em. If you like more on the slots side look at Game King 1 through Game King 10.

...

cruiser3700, I realize that you work for them and want to give them a plug, but still, the prices are way out of line for savvy home slot owners.

Quote from: the page link you posted
This Machine is $5000 which includes delivery to you house, set up and demonstration, manual, and a new casino cabinet to set the machine on.

This page, http://www.toplineslots.com/slot.htm , has lower prices for 31-game versions of the GK, but the prices listed for the various slots are still much more than what most members here would be willing to pay.

Hey, thanks for the input. I'd been checking out their web page ads...but came to
my senses when I saw their prices.

You're right. Five grand for the 6.0 is way too much.

Thanks again!

Just a final on this post. I got that Game King from Jim and just to let you all know If you want to limit your Slot game addiction don't buy from Bettor Slots . I bought the first, this game King and have made Jim's and my freighter's year this was the start and I have ordered and received, it and six others and have 2 more pallets  (7 more games ) coming. I have bought and sold Slots here in Anchorage for more years than I want to remember and have received them in all conditions some that I thought were perfect and the closest to buying a new slot off IGT's show room floor is from Jim at Bettor Slots the games all have been spotless almost new cabinets, new buttons and all have been plug and play even after a 3000 mile trip to get here. he has been on the spot with any help or extra parts I have needed. I plan on buying many more in the future and highly recommend Jim for your slot needs. I have another Game King, 4 I Game + and 2 S 2000's on this order and 5 of these were presold form people seeing what the first looked like.
Want the best buy from Jim and no he didn't pay for this post <G>

AKLarry,

So how did you pay for your machines? The only thing that stopped me with Bettor Slots was the fact he doesn't take credit cards.
I got burned with PayPal in the past and it's left a sour taste in my mouth...with no offense or reflection on Jim's business intended.
It's hard to send that amount of money out there without the protection of a credit card company at my back.

And it's very frustrating...because it sounds like Jim does a wonderful job cleaning these things up...which nobody else really does.

You can pay people using your credit card through Paypal. If the seller doesn't take credit cards directly (which sellers sometimes offer through Paypal as well), you can attach a credit card to your Paypal account and get it verified the same way that you verified your bank account. Once that is set up, you should be able to specify that any payment be made through your credit card instead of your bank account.

As far as I know, Paypal charges the same 3% fee (give or take) to the seller whether you pay with your bank account or your credit card, although the fee can sometimes be avoided if money is transferred from an existing Paypal balance. Paypal pushes the bank payment method hard because they get to pocket all of that money for their greedy selves, whereas they have to share it with your credit card company if you pay that way.

If a seller does not want to pay the fee, you can opt to pay it out of your end if you select the personal payment option. Alternatively, the seller could charge you 3% more to cover the fee. Regardless, you would then be covered by your credit card company should any Paypal dispute leave you unsatisfied.

Once burnt, twice shy. I don't know why that keeps rolling around in my empty head. I should start back off with smaller purchases
to get my 'net legs back, I guess.

Thanks for taking the time to write back.

Don't get me wrong. I don't like Paypal either, and I got into it big time with them several years ago.

However, their customer service has improved since then, and more importantly, I am very careful to make sure that the transaction is exactly the way that I want it (i.e., paying with CC instead of bank, making sure of amount, comments, etc.) BEFORE I push that send payment button. My past experience with them has taught me that they are not helpful in changing a mistake. I also will not leave funds in my account.

That being said, I have paid out over five figures using Paypal over the years without major incident.

First two orders I used paypal, this last order I did a bank wire transfer. I haven't personally met Jim but you get a feel after a while and I got it right away with him
this last order was over $10.000.00 and I had no bad feelings about it also saved almost $300.00 in fees by doing a transfer. As far as using paypal you can send paypal using a credit card and you get the same protection as just using a card. I know right now my word with you doesn't mean much but I just did the same as handing Jim that much cash on his word that he would send my slots and he will, and they will be in top condition.
