Poker Machine Filters

Hey all,

My CEI poker machine (and I'm assuming other OEM's) has a fan that pulls air into the machine from the outside which blows through a large opening just above the monitor on down through the machine.  I can feel the circulating air coming out of the coin opening just above the coin tray.  Being an intake fan, it obviously pulls in dust.  I picked up a small furnace filter at Lowe's and cut it down to lay across the opening just above the monitor.  I figured, this will keep the dust in the upper area of the machine and prevent everything else getting coated with dust over time.  With the filter in place I can still feel air at the bottom of the machine above the coin tray, so at least there's still circulation happening.

Any of you guys do this?  Any harm in doing so?

Restricting air flow is not a good idea in my opinion.  The fan size and opening size is typically designed to allow a certain number of air changes per hour to keep the machines components at a certain temperature.  You are likely adding heat and stress to your components thus reducing their lifespan.  If you want to test this out....take that same filter and put it in front of one of your homes air conditioning diffusers and see how cool you feel.

Yeah, any pictures or recommendations of cooling fans would be great.  The one I have does the job, but it's a bit on the loud side...comparatively speaking with today's fans.
