Newb w/ Video problems

I think a video is worth a thousand words :-) ! I am not new to slots but I have never had a video machine or an IGT. All of my machines are Bally slots.

What do you folks think?

What we have here is a crt going into HV shutdown .....  take a look at your caps..

I am not a newb at soldering electronics components by any mea ns (built too many HeathKits growing up  ) but is there something I should be careful of when working on or around the CRT (seems to me i remember something about discharging???)?

Yes, be sure to discharge the CRT before performing service on the monitor.  The good news is that the Ceronix chassis on the PE+ is supposed to be self-discharging.  That means that in theory, there won't be much of a charge if any.  Better safe than sorry, however.

The first half of this video shows a pretty good demonstration of how to discharge the monitor and remove the high voltage wire from the tube.  The rubber glove the guy is wearing is useless, but the screwdriver-attached-to-the-frame is how I was taught to discharge a monitor, and they don't scare me anymore -- I just have a nice respect for them.

You likely won't get a spark (again due to the self-discharging circuitry).  If you want even less chance of getting one, remove the power to the machine and wait a day or two before doing the discharge procedure.  It's not too scary, though.  Just respect the potential for danger, and take your time discharging the monitor.

Great info on discharging the crt. Now, can someone help me with which caps to replace or should all of them be replaced?

I just spoke to Joe and had to agree with Buzz and Joe that for $45 it's a no brainer to send the chassis out to Ceronix. Sooo...UPS, here I come! Thanks for all of the help everyone!!!!!
