What are the best limit setting for IGT S+ using say the SP1271?   test 7  1 2 3, 5 etc -  maximum credit limit - max hopper pays etc.

One person's "best" may not suit someone else's needs.  It depends on what you want it to do, Barry.

As far as maximum credits, I'm sure you'd want to set that to a high number so that even if you hit a big award, it adds to your credit meter so you can keep playing.

As far as hopper limits, do you want the "authentic" casino setup where it cashes out coins (requiring you to keep coins in the hopper), or do you want to essentially disable the hopper, sending all cashouts to hand-pays (cleared with a flip of the jackpot reset switch)?

customers seem to want the credits to build up - so I would assume 9999 for the credit limit.  as for the hopper - less interference with the reset key would be preferred.  so do I make all the limits 9999 or ?

If you make the hopper limit 9999 and they hit the credit/cash button or hit a jackpot over 9999 the machine would want 10,000 coins to go thru the hopper to clear the payout.

DON'T make the hopper limit 9999, or they will end up with an impossible cash out problem if they press the button.

I would set the credit limit to 9999.

For the hopper limit, I suggest a value between 0 and 1200 for small coins, or between 0 and 400 for large coins. The actual number will depend on the customer's preferences, as knagl stated, and the number of coins the customer has to play with.
(0 effectively turns the hopper off, since all cash outs will be hand pays that are cleared by turning the jackpot key.)

I usually set the jackpot lockup to an amount that makes sense for the game installed. It depends on the size of the prizes, and how often the customer wants to experience a "jackpot". Keep in mind that for many games, the odds of hitting the top prize are 262,1444 to 1, or 373,248 to 1, so if they would like to see lockup jackpots a bit more often, I would set the limit to include the top two or three payouts.

Most of us don't use partial pays on jackpot lockups, so we set that to 0.

The DBV limit is arbitrary and depends on user preference. The DBV will turn off when the credits are within $1 of the limit that you set if a credit is worth less than $1, or at the limit if a credit is worth $1 or more. Most people set this to the same value as the credit limit (9999). I usually set mine low (1000-2000) so that I have to "earn" tons of credits, but as everyone around here knows, I'm weird. (If you set this limit to something lower than the credit limit, tell the customer. Otherwise, you'll probably get a call one day that the DBV "just stopped working for no reason."

<EDIT> Sorry Coors, I was typing while you were posting. Crazy
