Hi All:

Can someone tell me what the hopper level probes are for?  I know the top one tells the CPU the hopper is full and activates the coin diverter, but is that the only function?  What about the mid and lower?  What does the CPU do with the information and are there corresponding programming settings?

Thanks,

Jack

Let me make an educated guess. arrow
The top one is for telling the machine that the hopper is full.
The middle probe is for telling the machine that the hopper that it's half-full.
The bottom probe is for telling the machine that's it's nearly empty.
What else would you like these probes to do?  arrow
This information goes back to the backroom of a casino
when the machine is connected via fiber optic cables.
It will be many moons before any homeowner gets
their hands on this type of equipment, if ever...
For anyone's information...the handle on a slot machine is to begin a game... Tongue Out

Maybe when the middle probe contact is closed and the top probe is open, the coin drop diverter could open HALF way, knockout
and when the bottom probe contact is opened (i.e., all three are open), the machine could put up a message to the player: "DON'T PLAY ME; I'M EMPTY"*  frying pan Weird Eyes

Your answer might be right, though. The only other use for a second level sensor that I can think of would be to trigger one of those automatic hopper fillers. If that's the case, then maybe the bottom sensor would be to alert the casino that the machine needed a manual refill.  Scratch Head

Bobby in Oregon has one of those hopper coin auto re-fillers for sale.
I'm thinking of getting it and try it out for fun.
By the time my machine is fully equipped with all the gadgets -
it ought to weigh about 4 thousand lbs... bust gut laughing

Maybe the bottom probe connects to the automatic percentage adjuster input. When the machine sees this contact open, it goes into "Automatic Hopper Refill Mode", which is specially designed to fill the hopper rapidly without the need for a technician to intervene. boss Shifty

on older games it would use the top candle to indicate that the hopper was low.   Today it does not matter either as it was replaced with Printer Ticket Low (same concept but the use an optic)
